Donald Trump addressed a group of Evangelicals on Thursday and jokingly told them that he has to win the election to get into heaven.
During an appearance at an event which was hosted by the Christian group American Renewal Project in Kissimmee, Fla., Trump asked those in attendance to pray for him to win the election and defeat Hillary Clinton.
This will be an election that will go down in the history books for the evangelicals, for the Christians, for everybody of religion. This will be maybe the most important election the country has ever had.So go out and spread the word, and once I get in, I’ll do my thing that I do very well. And I figure it’s probably — maybe the only way I’m going to get into heaven, so I better do a good job.
The crowd seemed to enjoy Trump’s sense of humor and laughed heartily at his jest. Exactly what evangelicals see in a candidate that is on his third marriage, with a history of adultery among other sins, is unclear, but then again, reason isn’t exactly a strong point among conservative Christians.
