Car Dealership Staff Berates Pizza Driver, Internet Gets Revenge Via Scathing Reviews (VIDEO/SCREENSHOTS)

A Massachusetts car dealership is discovering the power of the internet as its reputation on Yelp descends into the one-star zone after posting video of staff berating the man who delivered their pizza, and stiffing him for a tip to boot.

The fine people at used car dealership F&R Auto Sales pooled money to buy a pizza from Palace Pizza, the unluckiest business in the state that day. The order came to just over $42, and the employees gave the driver, Jarrid Tansey, $50 — two twenties and two fives.

Obviously, as he had been handed $45 plus another $5, the driver assumed he had been given a generous tip. He thanked his customers and left. According to Tansey, no one asked for change.

However, all was not well at F&R. Expecting change from the 50 bucks they handed him for their $42 order, the staff was furious that they had not received the extra five dollar bill and change from the other $45 back.

Unfortunately, what may seem to most like a reasonable, $7 tip for a $42 order, was a matter of life and death to the staff at F&R. The owner of the dealership called the pizza delivery place and complained to the manager.

The driver was forced to use his own resources to return to the used car dealership and return the $7 — and the fine folks at F&R Auto Sales were ready.

In a security camera recording that was posted to YouTube under the title, “irate pizza driver” (The video has since been made private, but was preserved on Liveleak), the staff of the car dealership began by ganging up on the delivery man.

As though they expected him to somehow possess the ability to read minds, F&R employees chastised Tansey for not possessing the telepathic powers necessary to know that they wanted him to hand back the extra $5 they gave him, as well as change. By the end of the video, the mob is berating, and even threatening, the driver.

As Tansey says in the video:

It just doesn’t make sense why you’d hand me a bill that you were just gonna have me drive back here to give you back anyway.

An employee replies:

Because I gave you everything that they gave me so I would get the correct change.

Tansey then asks:

So, you handed me a five dollar bill that you were going to ask for back?

“Correct,” replied the employee. “You ever gone to the supermarket and you give them a certain amount of money, so they give you back your change?”

“Not a whole extra bill,” Tansey responded.

As Tansey attempted to leave, one employee tells him, “Let’s not be mad.”

“I’m not mad, I just had to waste my resources coming back here,” the driver replies.

“So listen: The manager apologized once for you. Do you want him to apologize again for you?” the employee in blue presses.

“It’s okay, you got your $7 back, so the world is right now.” Tansey says as he finally was able to make his exit.

The last straw…

As Tansey is leaving, a female worker threatens:

Out the door before I put my foot in your ass.

After the unfortunate driver gets the hell out of there, the employees continue to belittle him. One man indicates that he wants Tansey fired, even though he and his fellow car dealership employees are the ones who acted inappropriately:

Get the f*cking owner and the manager on the phone, I want that mother-f*cker done. I want him fired.

Fortunately, our hero will not be fired. Pizza Palace has elected not to discipline the driver, and some have begun raising money for Tansey. The pizza shop has elected not to punish Tansey, according to manager Adam Willoughby.

This isn’t the first time we have had problems with F&R Auto,” Willoughby explained. He says the owner of F&R and his son stopped by Pizza Palace to apologize on Wednesday.

I was the manager on that night, and today they came and spoke to me, profusely apologized. We both want to make things right between us. We don’t want any bad blood.

Naturally, the car dealership proudly posted the video online (with the intent of humiliating the poor driver), but the internet responded in a way they surely didn’t expect. F&R’s Yelp page is overrun with one-star reviews, many of which are pretty damn funny:

I’m guessing, not a damned thing.

  • Beaugrand_RTMC

I’m fairly certain the next time they want pizza, they’ll be told “you’re out of our service area.”

    • Brian

Actually next time they get pizza they will probably get A LOT of extra unwanted toppings they didn’t ask for.

      • twray1974

I would think either works, really.

      • ctrSciGuy

Hahaha. I really hope that is the case.

      • Doctor Greybeard

Like maybe some chocolate exlax? One can only hope!

      • Keep Honkin, I’m Reloading

        Try our new “stuffed” crust.

  • a567and8

Ain’t it the truth? They won’t be selling many cars, I guess, so….they can all hunker down to service men’s room drop-ins!

  • Suzy

What a bunch of lowlifes. I am retired and not the biggest tipper but gave my pizza delivery guy 7.00 on a 35.00 order which was 20 percent. Sometimes I will give 8.00. On 42.00 they should have at least gave an 8.00 or 9.00 tip.

  • Ellis8118

There was NO WAY IN HELL that delivery man could have possibly thought that wasn’t a 17% tip! That’s pretty standard, at least in my world especially with them somehow expecting him to return the $5 bill they’d just handed over. There’s no question this was a set up from the start. The delivery guy couldn’t have been more measured in his response considering the smug, self-important and complete over-reaction those CHOWDA-HEADS gave him. The biggest surprise is that they thought THEY were going to be the “clever heroes” at the end of this story. Can anyone find a better definition of HUBRIS?

    • Nathan Justice

      standard is usually 20%

      • zerosumgame0005

having been in that type of service “tipped” job in my 20’s I always try to do at least 20%, and is I’m in a busy restaurant and the server keeps on refilling my drink without being asked I go for a bit more

  • Freemark

As a former car salesperson I’m appalled but not surprised at their behavior. Most of theirhe people I met in the business were good people. But some people I met, usually managers or owners, were complete scum. These people would hire scum to steal as much as possible from customers. Even if these are backend people I wouldn’t trust any person in the place.

  • Brian

I saw this on LIVELEAK yesterday. Liveleakers have posted F & R’s telephone number, Fax and address too. They have been tying up their phone lines pranking or asking them why they treated the pizza guy so badly. Their website is down due to traffic. The names of the guys and the girl have been posted as well as their facebooks, etc. Their Yelp and Google Plus reviews are down the drain. Karma. The black guy on the right has a good deal of religious stuff on his FB too ! Hopefully everyone sees this and knows how these people really are.

  • FLChristyB

What I find hard to believe is that the staff posted the video thinking they were going to humiliate the delivery guy! The man never raised his voice or got angry and made sense in his argument that they handed him an extra $5 bill, which any half intelligent person would construe as a tip! Not only did they act cruelly, they compounded their stupidity by posting it online!

    • Larry Dague

you can tell from their attitudes that they thought they were all that. “call his boss…get him fired”…lol….and the lady had the personality of a street tramp

    • bonkerslite

Stupid is, a stupid does. They followed through in remarkable fashion.

That’s how they really act. I don’t know where they are, but I’d never buy anything from them. Treating everyone well, is not only right, but good for business.

  • Mina

If I owned this place, I would have sent the delivery man double what his tip should have been before I fired those “employees”. And since they taped this incident, I would be protected in court if they tried to sue me for wrongful termination.

  • PsychoWrath

Give the delivery guy a nice car to deliver in.

  • xvet

My wife used to work selling cars most the people are arrogant f’rs.

  • CatWhisperer

Great article. John, I tried to add you to FB, Twitter and Google Plus, but none of the links work.

  • elizabeth cohen

I guess everyone now knows where not to buy a car.

  • jon

I thought the driver did pretty well under the circumstances. And, what kind of an income do you suppose he makes delivering pizza’s? Not a whole lot of money in that job.

One time years ago, I picked up some food from a drive in window. After I left, I realized the girl at the window had OVER paid me in giving me my change. I drove back to the window, and told her that she had over paid me. SHE started getting an attitude, and insisted I was wrong and that was that. I said, all right, but if you come up short in your till at the end of your day, don’t say I didn’t try. I then drove off. Did she think I was trying to scam her into taking my money?? Oh well. I sleep well at night.

  • R.a.hudle

she threatens to put her foot in his A$$?..what a dangerous thing to say.

    • Franklin Radcliff

yep I’d have challenged her and her friends to try it.

  • mperrotti76

    It’s not delivery, it’s degrading.

  • Steve Ridling

Of course they went to apologize after the world saw them for the arrogant jackasses they are. To little to late.

  • Doctor Greybeard

I almost fell out of my chair when I tried to write a review of this dealer…. I got this message:

    Dear Visitor,

Due to the recent high volume of reviews for F&R Auto Sales
that contained inappropriate content and were not reflective of an
actual dealership experience, we have temporarily suspended this page.

DealerRater provides a trusted forum for car-buying
customers to share their dealership experiences with other consumers.
Ensuring the validity of these reviews is really important to us (see
    our Terms of Use).

And by the way, we just gave OUR local pizza delivery guy a HUGE tip.

    -The DealerRater Team”

I wonder if the guys at F&R are…. oh nevermind.

  • Keith Holloway

That chick who threatened the driver should not only be fired, but arrested.

    • greatdanes2

But you will notice she said it after he had left the room and was probably at the front door with his back to her. A coward and an ass.

  • Keep Honkin, I’m Reloading

The internet doesn’t make you stupid, it simply makes your stupidity easily available to others.

  • Larry Dague

And these are the clowns who figure out how much my car will ultimately cost? wow….It appears they were meaning to tip the guy just two bucks on the $43.00 order…lol….

Funniest part is the only “Man” in the group was the lady and she talked like the gutter tramp she is.

  • Echo Moon

i would have given them their change. i would have stopped by a bank first and gotten all pennies. then i would have broken open the rolls and dumped the pennies into a pizza box.

  • kcgeek

The presupposed notion that identifying the names of the individuals who appeared in this video somehow puts their lives in danger is a fairly ridiculous exaggeration, and serves no purpose other than to deflect attention away from the appropriate and legitimate criticism of the behavior displayed by those individuals. The only person whom you could reasonably claim might have any motivation to react violently is the pizza delivery person, and he already knows who and where they are. Stifle the narcissistic urge to always appear objective and magnanimous already. It’s not useful.

  • AmeliaBedelia

Wondering what his religion has to do with his behavior? Oh, yeah, that’s right! I forgot, religious people are supposed to be perfect, and when they aren’t that somehow validates the belief that ALL religious people are hypocrites or something like that. Right? smh

    • Jism Woten

I’m not religious and I would never treat someone like that. What’s the point of “being religious” if you are just going to be a shit person?

      • Jmpr143

While I’m not highly religious, I do believe in God..that being said..there are an awful lot of supposedly “religious ” people out there lately (or maybe just seems to be cos they get the attention) who are anything BUT kind and decent to people.

      • AmeliaBedelia

Well, I’m not defending his behavior at all. No, I was just speaking up BEFORE the Christian bashers started in about how his behavior is an example of all Christians, etc… I should have made that more clear, though.

        • Michael Corliss

I agree. This says nothing about religious people in general. It just says that his behavior was hypocritical.

      • AmeliaBedelia

I totally agree with you on that. I wasn’t trying to say it was ok to act that way. I must have worded it wrong or something

    • ctrSciGuy

The “oh, we’re not all perfect” excuse doesn’t work here. People make mistakes and that’s ok, Religious people and non-religious people do that.

This guy didn’t “make a mistake,” he was a deliberately abusive person. Never in my life have I ever abused someone this way, and I would never “accidentally” abuse someone this way because there’s never a good excuse for abuse.

If you keep having to use the excuse, “we’re not all perfect,” you might think about what that says about your religion. Especially, if you also tell the non-religious that they can’t be moral without god. I would never do that to anyone, and I don’t need god to tell me not to. I have humanity and empathy to tell me not to.

I got another quote for you, “by their fruits ye shall know them.”

  • James Dobson

Ramos is not going to live much longer.

  • Nathan Justice

I’m sorry I gotta admit those reviews are god damned hilarious

  • LonelyWraith Gonzalez Ayme

Being a customer service rep, I know that this is NO way to treat ANY one. What ever happened to RESPECT??? And judging by the appearance of this grp of MORONS, they are old enough to know better!!! I had to thank God I wasn’t that poor delivery guy when that dumb chick made her ‘hittin below the belt’ comment about putting her foot up his ass, because I would have turned right back around and said, id like to see u do that because once ur done, u WILL be picking up ur teeth off the floor!!! Whoever owns this business NEEDS to either teach his employees the PRORPER way to deal with ppl in general, or fire their sorry asses. In my opinion, that was a form of bullying and should NOT be tolerated in the work place…

  • Jmpr143

Okay..how did that in anyway put their lives in danger?? They’ll be inundated with nasty calls and e-mails, hopefully lose alot of business..but I doubt their safety is in jeopardy. Way over exaggerated.

  • Jmpr143

Glad I never got anywhere near there to buy a car…and if I were the owner of that dealership..I’d seriously question whomever did the hiring..I don’t think I’ve EVER seen so many ignorant people in one place! And “lady” with the hat..seriously, you might want to change out of your “street” clothes. But all in all..thanks so much for the best laugh I’ve had in a long time…you proved the point..can’t fix stupid, perfectly.

  • OUR12

    Karma strikes again.

  • Lizz Huie-Fulks

Everyone at that dealership are morons. And obviously they do not know math and everyone who has a contract with them for a car needs to recheck the math to make sure they are not being overcharged on their payments. Their behavior was wrong on so many levels of course if they knew math this incident would NOT have happened.

  • John Bryant

I tip 5 for an order that routinely runs from 15-18 dollars. Not a fortune, but it paid for the gas he used to deliver my pies.

  • DFW

It was the nasty employees from the car dealership that posted the video!! What advantage they thought they would get from their making nasty behavior public, I cannot begin to imagine. However, it appears that the public has reacted accordingly, and that they will be looking for other jobs in the near future-either due to being deservedly terminated by their employer, or because his company has declared insolvency due to the lack of business.
