In case you were thinking folks are less racist in the UK, British reality TV “star” and Sun columnist Katie Hopkins proves otherwise.
Opposing Views reports Hopkins found time to take a break from posting nasty tweets about fat people to lob a few vile, racist comments about Michael Brown to her followers. After St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch announced the grand jury had declined to prosecute, Hopkins tweeted:
Brown was not shot for being black. Brown was shot for being a thief and a thug. Give the officer a medal. Justice with knobs on.
Then, in case we didn’t see Hopkins tweet the first time, she doubled down with her thug comments:
All too often law enforcement is put on trial whilst the thug ends up canonised by the mob. Looting in memory of Saint Brown.
And Hopkins even had some lovely things to say about the Ferguson protesters, with a link to a controversial post on Politico:
Hands Up, Don’t shoot is a good slogan. If only it is what Michael Brown did last August. R.Lowry
Oh, and here’s Hopkins’ delightful analysis of one of the videos that showed brown running away.
If you play the Michael Brown video backwards - you will see he is actually running AWAY from the cop. Boll*cks.
Hopkins doesn’t like what HuffPo has to say about her… Heheh, we see what you did there, Katie.
I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll burn your house down.
And here, Hopkins shows surveillance footage of someone who might not even be Michael Brown as proof of his alleged thuggery. And she calls him “Saint Brown” just to twist the knife.
A juvenile arrest record including a charge for second degree murder. Sure Saint Brown sounds like lovely child.
But if we want to know what really happened, we’ll need to, erm, “dog deeper.”
Quit with the ‘no arrest record’. You need to dog deeper - behind his adult records. #Saint Brown
Whew! Hopkins is finally done with the Brown rants and back to trashing fat people and whining about the British government’s single-payer healthcare system stop paying for gastric bypass surgery, even though even most private insurers in the U.S. cover the procedure.
if you can afford the food to get fat, you can afford the surgery to get an operation. Pay for it yourself. Bright House: one for you guys
Luckily, Amy Hamner Walker read the Opposing Views article and posted the link, along the a pitch-perfect response to Hopkins:
Racist scumbag writer! Here Are The Michael Brown Comments That Landed This Columnist In Hot Water.

She’s a professional troll. The only way to beat her is to ignore her.
Not sticking up for her, but actually very few if any private insurers in the US pay for gastric bypass surgery, unless the insured is so obese (or has co-morbid conditions) that bypass surgery would save money in the long run.
