As a political comedian and fan of smart political comedy, I’m very much looking forward to seeing Stephen Colbert take over The Late Show on CBS. But there’s a part of me that’s very forlorn over the loss of David Letterman, as his biting sarcasm and thoughtfulness during interviews was legendary. For example, his interviews with Bill O’Reilly were always sharp and evocative.
Donald Trump is running for president and it’s one of the funniest things in the world. Well, it’s actually that uncomfortable mesh of funny and scary since he now has the support of white supremacists. Much like Christie, another unapologetic blowhard with nothing of value to say, Donald Trump’s ego is running for president. But back in 2012, when the Donald was just a pretend presidential candidate and before NBC fired him, Trump appeared on Letterman to endorse Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential run. His ethics and foreign diplomacy skills are as hard to find as his old hair. Hilariously enough, Trump was whining about all our jobs going to China, only to seconds later have Letterman discover that Trump’s clothing collection is actually made in China
