Maine GOP State Senator Says President Obama Will See ISIS At His Next Family Reunion (IMAGES)

Maine Republican State Senator, Michael Willette, advertised a meme from Conservative News Today on Facebook of President Obama with the derogatory wording: “Why haven’t I done anything about ISIS? Because I’ll deal with them at my family reunion.”

Before posting the demeaning image, Willette shared in a comment that he was very cordial over the past year about not posting anything about Obama, but this one was “too good to pass up.” The Republican Senator then added in the caption, “I promise this will be the last one for some time.”

When the meme began to go viral, Willette issued a halfhearted apology this week and claims that he is “as far away from being a racist as you can get.” He then commented that he was sorry for posting such an image on Facebook and pleas that he should have not caved into the pressures of publicly displaying his “profound disappointment” towards Obama’s polices. In his apology, he stated:

I apologize for posting this on Facebook. Like too many people these days, I fell into the trap of posting something first and then thinking later. It was an error in judgment. And that frustration led me, against my better judgement, to make several criticisms of the president that were completely inappropriate. I can promise to you that this mistake in judgement will not be repeated.

You may be foolish to think that his “mistake” was a one-time occurrence or that he really doesn’t believe in such bigoted slurs against Obama, but according to the Bangor Daily News, this conservative has a long history of ignorant comments towards the President on Facebook. Before making his profile private from the general public, Willette writes in his previous posts that President Obama is a Muslim and has connections to various terrorist or extremist groups. He also says that Obama is “living up to his Islamic heritage.”

How will we ever make a stand against these radical Islamist when Obama is so entrenched with them?” wondered Willette, as he posted a link claiming Obama and his family have connections with ISIS, and shared numerous links of supposed evidence that Obama’s administration has been brainwashed into this “Muslim Brotherhood.”

After the Boston Marathon bombings, when two pressure cooker bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon, Willette decided to argue that Michelle Obama was responsible for the attack because she visited a Saudi national in the hospital who was injured in the blast, along with other helpless victims.

“Michelle Obama loves her terrorist friends more than the wounded from the bombing in Boston. Un-freaking real. What have we done to our country?” he wrote as a caption.

He then targeted Hillary Clinton, saying that Obama’s scandals “will have its roots in her big ole a** and she won’t be able to shake it.”

This ignorant Republican’s apathetic apology was not forgiven by Maine Democrats, who called for a formal rebuke from Willette and wrote in a letter to Republican Senate President Michael Thibodeau this week stating:

“In the wake of our country’s recent tribute to the brave Americans who stood up to injustice, we find ourselves in the position of being unable to look the other way and ignore the unacceptable and less than statesman-like comments made by one of our own.”

Although his offensive actions deserve attention from the Senate President, no Republican leaders have yet condemned Sen. Willette’s remarks, as he still remains Chair of the Legislature’s State and Local Government Committee.

Just in case you don’t realize how sick some Republicans are.

  • David Bailey

Would be nice to see GOP political discourse elevate itself beyond the sophomoric. (Waiting . . . . . . .)

  • Dawn’s Early Light

    He was just kidding. Really.

  • Laurie Neufeld

Oh, it won’t happen again … in public…

I don’t believe that for a minute. He won’t have anything too terrible to have to deal with over this and it’ll be right back to bigotry as usual. These kinds of foul despicable people usually never learn the lessons they should. It will just be more on the down low until this blows over. Then right back to his usual behavior. I expect nothing more from the GOP. Their actions speak louder than their words do anyway. He’s slim, always has been, always will be.

Exactly why I say thee people need to be brought to justice . . . though if they are convicted, the obscenely partisan SCOTUS will likely overturn it all.

  • Helen Damnation

I’ve come to the conclusion that Republicans are idiots. And the people who vote for them are as well. Well, maybe not? Maybe we are the idiots and the Republicans just wanna get rich. amIrite?

These racist-driven examples of hate speech will never stop until the administration put a stop to them through applying the laws of the United States. The evident lack of courtesy, intelligence, and respect for the constitutions these “officials” have sworn to uphold is so evident a d disgusting. It is simply a sign of “mob rule” by political thugs at all levels. What is wrong with the Department of Justice AND American voters who seem not to care who gets elected??

When I started reading, I though he was an equal opportunity a$$hole, since he represents Maine. But, when I read some of his other post I had to demote him several ranks. I’m just surprised he missed the post about Michelle’s class reunion, the one with the bare breasted African women. What are people like him going to do when they become such a minority that they can no longer gerrymander their way into political influence. I guess they figure they’ll stay with their scorched America policy and just do as much damage as the can for as long as they can.

They will stroke their guns and bibles and try to start a rebellion. Then wet their pants when the military comes a knockin’.

  • Kenneth Henderson

Maybe the “good” GOP senator from Maine will see the KKK/Aryan Nations/Christian Identity Party members at his family reunion. Just saying…….

  • decrepittex

One thing is certain, if he attends his family reunion they will have a 100% a$$hole walking among them.

Michael Willette took down his Official Facebook page because he couldn’t take down the posts against him fast enough. He did, however; keep his personal page so he can’t hear what people really think about him.
