Dan Savage To Ben Carson: Prove Being Gay Is A ‘Choice’ By Sucking My D*ck (SCREENSHOTS)

LGBT activist Dan Savage is under fire from conservatives for offering Dr. Ben Carson a unique opportunity to put his money where his mouth is — or to place his lips where Savage’s d*ck is — regarding recent comments that prison rape proves being gay is a choice.

In an op-ed penned by Savage on Wednesday, the activist addressed Carson’s assertion that a man being forcibly violated in prison somehow equates to a “choice” to be gay. Carson said:

Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight — and when they come out, they’re gay. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question.

Savage issued a…savage…indictment of warped conservative viewpoints regarding homosexuality and civil rights, pointing out that even if homosexuality was a choice, those who chose to be gay should be afforded the same constitutional protections as those who choose to be a Christian, or a Muslim, a Pastafarian, or even a Dudeist:

Religious conservatives argue that being gay is a choice—a choice that people can control—and therefore gay people are not entitled to civil rights protections, aren’t covered by the 14th Amendment, shouldn’t be allowed to marry or adopt, etc. Because being gay is choice and therefore no one has to be gay. Don’t like being discriminated against? Want to legally marry? Want to adopt? You shouldn’t change the law, you shouldn’t argue for equal rights, you should just chose to be straight. And it’s easy! Because, you see, gayness isn’t an immutable characteristic. It’ not like race. People can’t change their race, right?

Religious conservatives go on TV to make this anti-gay argument while religious conservatives knock on doors, distribute pamphlets, proselytize, and evangelize all over the country in an effort to get people to do what? To change their religions. To choose a different faith. So faith—religious belief—is not an immutable characteristic. You can change your faith. And yet religious belief is covered by civil rights laws and anti-discrimination statutes. Two other examples of mutable characteristics covered by civil rights statutes: military service and marital status. But no one has to serve in the military and no one has to get married—people have control over whether they marry or enlist, right? And yet, like religious belief, both are covered by civil rights statutes and people like Ben Carson don’t object. The only time you hear that a trait has to be immutable in order to qualify for civil rights protections is when they talk about the gay.

Savage, naively assuming they can read, provided conservatives with the definition of “situational homosexuality,” which is “Sexual contact between members of the same sex due to absence of the opposite sex (e.g., military, prison) rather than desire or predisposition.”

“Like truthers (9/11 was an inside job), birthers (Barack Obama was born in Kenya), and deathers (Osama bin Laden is alive and well and living in West Hollywood), choicers are another group [of] deranged conspiracy theorists who can’t be dissuaded by science or evidence or facts,” Savage wrote. “They insist that being gay is a conscious choice that a person makes.”

So, the activist issued Carson the same challenge he threw at the would-be President’s fellow homophobic hatemonger Herman Cain in 2011 and Mike Huckabee in 2014: Prove it. Savage wrote Carson what has become a boilerplate missive politely inviting the homophobe to fellate him and win the argument:

Dear Dr. Carson,

If being gay is a choice, prove it. Choose it. Choose to be gay yourself. Show America how that’s done, Ben, show us how a man can choose to be gay. Suck my dick. Name the time and the place and I’ll bring my dick and a camera crew and you can suck me off and win the argument.

Very sincerely yours,

Dan Savage

But when Savage tweeted out the challenge, conservatives skipped everything just to get to the juicy d*ck sucking part…

…and they did not approve!

Over at the repository of chunky, taco night word-splatter that is Newsbusters, conservatives jumped on the opportunity to call for Savage’s execution, spout hate speech, and showcase their “Christian” love:

On Twitter, the comments were much more tongue (or something else)-in-cheek:

Sure, it was crude — but is there really a better way for conservatives to justify their choice to ignore science than to suck a little c*ck? If Carson were to take Savage up on his offer, would it not prove being gay is a choice?

Do, it Carson. Suck his d*ck. Live a little.

Frankly, I’d like it if both Savage and Carson vanished into thin air. Apparently being gay doesn’t preclude Dan Savage from being a biphobic, transphobic, misogynistic piece of trash.

    • Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker

Savage is not “biphobic” or “transphobic,” and he not “misogynistic” unless not being sexually attracted to women makes you a misogynist.

      • Batman in Arkham

Savage has repeatedly misgendered trans people as well as called them “shemales”, called bisexuals “confused”, and told a rape victim that she needs to get over herself or let her husband find someone better.

      • Batman in Arkham

Savage has repeatedly called transgendered people “shemales” and deliberately used the wrong pronouns, called bisexual people “confused” and “greedy”, and told a rape victim that she should get over herself and get back to satisfying her husband.

So yes, he’s biphobic, transphobic, and a misogynist. He’s not any better than Carson.

You want evidence of some of the truly awful crap to come out of Savage’s mouth? Look in my comment above. There is a link. Or just Google “reasons Dan Savage is awful” and click on the first result.

Then tell me with a straight face that Savage isn’t the same kind of hypocritical bigot Carson is, just wearing a cleaner suit.
