25 Of The Most Idiotic Republican Quotes Of 2014

It’s that time of year again when we all take a stroll down memory lane and reflect on the joy of the last year. It’s also the time of year we bring to you the stupidest, most asinine Republican quotes of the year. Get some popcorn or a barf bag and delve into the dumb.

Republicans on gay rights:

25. Anthony Culler (R-SC):

If you believe in traditional families and that marriage is defined as an institution between one man and one woman then I ask you to start acting like it and START VOTING like it! Do not buy the ‘cuteness’ and ‘What will it hurt?’ arguments whispered in your ears and marketed to our children. Same-sex couples that seek to destroy our way of life and the institution of marriage are NOT cute and cuddly but rather (for those of you old enough to remember the movie), Gremlins that will only destroy our way of life.

24. Don Young (R-AK):

You can’t have marriage with two men. What do you get with two bulls?

23. Texas Republicans:

If the right to select ‘partners of their choosing’ is the criterion used to invoke marriage as a fundamental right, then marriage restrictions on age, polygamy, and consanguinity are also ripe for challenge.

22. Steve Hickey (R-SD):

Gay sex is not good for the body or mind. Pardon a crude comparison but regarding men with men, we are talking about a one-way meant only for the garbage truck to go down.

21. Susanne Atanus (R-Ill):

Same-sex activity is going to increase AIDS. If it’s in our military it will weaken our military. We need to respect God.

Republicans on women:

20. Fox’s Kimberly Guilfoyle:

It’s the same reason why young women on juries are not a good idea. They [young female voters] don’t get it!

19. Steve Martin (R-VA):

Once a child does exist in your womb, I’m not going to assume a right to kill it just because the child’s host (some refer to them as mothers) doesn’t want it.

18. Kevin D. Williamson (writer) on women who have abortions:

I have hanging more in mind.

Republicans on rape victims:

17. Fox’s Andrea Tantaros:

I’m so sick of feminists who scream from the rooftops that men need to do this. Yes men need to be gentlemen and figure out, I guess, how to get laid? There’s an app for that, we talked about that. But also, women need to decide, either we’re strong women who are capable of taking care of ourselves, or we are victims who need a special set of rules and regulations. Which one are we? Someone tell me.

16. Fox News Panel:

But I think if you’re going to watch out for a predator, you want to be able to do it in a sober eyes-wide-open manner. And you can’t do that if you’ve been drinking. To put yourself in a vulnerable position, and to be drinking on top of that, it’s the opposite of good sense.

15. GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak:

Texas is a pro-life state. We can get into minor issues [rape and incest] that are one percent or two percent the problem. But ultimately, Texas is a strong pro-life state.

14. Rush Limbaugh:

How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that no means yes if you know how to spot it?

Republicans on voters:

13. Bill O’Reilly:

Many American citizens are simply dumb. They don’t know anything. And when you don’t know anything, you’ll buy anything and propaganda rules.

12. RNC’s Sharon Day:

I don’t want to say anything about your Wisconsin voters but, some of them might not be as sharp as a knife.

Republicans on poor people:

11. Mike Pence (R-IN) on cutting Foodstamps for people not working 20 hours a week:

Well I’m someone who really believes there’s nothing more ennobling to a person than a job…

10. Pastor John Hagee:

To the healthy who can work but won’t work, get your nasty self off the couch and go get a job! America has rewarded laziness and we’ve called it welfare.

9. Tucker Carlson:

All of us should be happy about one thing, and it’s that for the first time in human history you have a country whose poor people are fat.

Republicans on immigrants:

8. Kris Kobach (R-KS) worried about Hispanics conducting an ethnic cleansing:

What happens, if you know your history when one culture or one race or one religion overwhelms another culture or race?

7. Chris Davis (Border Nut):

You see an illegal. You point your gun dead at him, right between his eyes, and you say,’Get back across the border or you will be shot.’

6. Louie Gohmert (R-TX):

And they’ve committed at least 7,695 sexual assaults. You want to talk about a war on women? This administration will not defend the women of America from criminal aliens!

5. RNC’s Tamara Scott:

And for many of these kids, depending on where they’re coming from, they could be coming from other countries and be highly trained as warriors who will meet up with their group here and actually rise up against us Americans.

Republican racism and bigotry:

4. Youngcons.com on a black ‘welfare queen’:

The woman in the video, Kiara, is 30 years old and has proudly been on welfare for 12 years……Obama’s America.

3. Jerry Bokin on how to prevent Muslims from having too many babies:

Americans need to have more babies and populate this country with red-blooded patriotic Americans.

2. Erik Rush:

I would certainly call for the deportation or expulsion of all Muslim foreign nationals at this juncture.

1. Jacob Dorsey (R-WI):

N**gers trash cars, I’m not selling my car to one.

They are a bunch of gems, aren’t they?

I’m sure 2015 will bring just as much stupidity from the morons on the right.

It’s true, you can’t fix stupid.

  • Destiny Phillips says:

Actually, Andrea Tantaros made a very valid point, as did a couple of the others. Women do need to be strong and quit doing everything possible to play the victim. Rape isn’t ur fault, but when Feminists consider everything (from legitimite rape to “Good Mornings”) to be Rape, then someone needs to draw the line. Rape is rape. Regret, “catcalls”, drunken sex are NOT rape.
Bill O’Reilly definitely got it right… Many Americans are Stupid. America is full of uneducated jackasses spewing propoganda and voting for whoever goes to this church or not voting for some one because Facebook told them this rumor.
Pastor John H(whatever rest of lastname was) and Tucker Carlson also made very valid points. Healthy people do need to get off their asses and get a job. It’s also amazing that these people on welfare, the ones who are too poor to live, or eat, or have a house… are most often Fat. It’s disgusting actually. If you are too lazy to make use of yourself, you have no right, whatsoever, to government programs meant to help those actually in need.

    • sals says:

then Destiny I have to go with the republican panel who said that young women just don’t get it….I prefer responsibility…and I don’t use alcohol…..but a female that got drunk is simply drunk and that DOES NOT MEAN HER BODY CAN NOW BE USED FOR MASTURBATION BY ANYONE….OTHERWISE IT IS RAPE WITHOUT HER CONSENT. It doesn’t excuse the man who proceeds to “rape” her without her consent.
I agree that Bill O’Reilly is correct when he says, many americans are stupid and will buy anything told to them…propaganda rules….he should know….fox news has the lowest informed viewing audience of any “news” channel. They do not know anything about their government and they believe anything fox tells them and fox lies and distorts for their own agenda……they are not fact checkers but lazy listeners or so we thought,….but now realize that people listen to what they want to believe…..some research showed that the conservative brains are wired a little different from liberal/progressive brains……the conservatives tend to thrive on fear and are not risk takers…they like an authoritarian style of leadership, being told what to do and how things are, they do not like change. Progressive brains are wired differently in that they are not afraid of risks, they are more authoritative in that, everyone can have a say and work out what is best for the planet, they like and believe in change, and they are more inclined toward helping their fellow humans and other life on the planet. They are forward thinkers. They do not base their decisions on fear driven propaganda.
Pator Hagee, and tucker are idiots….Hagee is a grifter/shyster who makes his money off poor people hoping to get to his heaven…..he does not know his own bible…Jesus, according to the writings, has never advocated treating the poor as lazy people refusing to work…..that is nothing more than right wing propaganda and any so called “Christian” who advocates that does not know their jesus or they are showing their hypyocritical beliefs….I am not a Christian…..I agree with Ghandi,, “I would be a Christian if I had never met one.” Tucker is an idiot….people are fat in this country because they eat the wrong things …..they believe what the corporations sell to them is food because it is made to taste good….chemical goop to look like food…..I don’t buy from corporations but local farmers and food coops….real food….and no one I know that shops at these places is fat….the corporations are killing American people with their disease causing make belief food and hormone/antibiotic meats from animals that are laced with adrenaline because they are tortured in their cages and moved to be slaughtered in a horrific manner….why would anyone eat corporation meats. Factory farms will either change or decline. People will get smarter but not the ones who don’t fact check or buys the propaganda they want to believe. Tucker and Hagee are just idiots, shysters.
Now I would like to address your own ignorance about welfare ……there are some that really do abuse and lie and deceive….but none more prolifically than corporations that are the biggest “welfare queens” we have in this country….they pay almost zero in taxes due to the loopholes, etc. they buy from our law making congress. They ship jobs overseas and still get the same benefits as they employ slave labor because they don’t want to pay americans living wages…..they hide their huge profits in overseas banks and off shore accounts….they are thriving and have for years in this country and pay less taxes than you or me……In Oregon, General electric made millions of dollars and paid $15 dollars in taxes for that year…..I was dumbfounded…as an educator, I paid far more than …hell, way way more (like about ten thousand dollars) than that in taxes.
In the 50s and 60s and 70s the corporations paid about 60-70% in taxes and they were still wealthy and thriving….now due to their paying off congress they now pay less than 15% and the rest of the taxes are falling on the middle class to pay more than their fair share to make up for the corporations not paying their fair share.
The welfare queen was thought up by Ronald Reagan who started the cutting taxes to the corporations until they really got going with paying less. There are some welfare queens today and surprisingly there are rich people on welfare queen route with this last year, a doctor and his girlfriend got all the benefits of welfare while stashing away their salaries secretly. You don’t have to be poor and “fat” to be on welfare in this country….just know the system…..but for the facts…..most of the people on welfare today are genuine….they are old, they are disabled, they are very poor, they are temporally on welfare because due to the banks they lost their homes, their jobs moved overseas, their health issues……they are real and let us not forget the number of veterans that are on welfare, because they are disabled and can’t work, Please get off your smug high horse and develop some humanity which you seem to be lacking….you come across as another right wing propaganda buying ‘young woman that doesn’t get it” as fox news panel pointed out.

      • sals says:

btw, I could go on with other republican idiots like rush but they are simply not worth the time anymore….I will let them fall to the wayside as they now are.

      • Guest says:

        Lets address

      • Destiny Phillips says:

Lets address your “drunken sex” is rape argument… If a woman chooses to drive a car while drunk, she will be held responsible for her actions (dui). According to your theory, it drinking and driving wouldn’t be her fault “because she was drunk”.
It’s one thing if she were passed out drunk… However, functionally drunk people make decisions every day that they are held accountable for… The same goes for choosing to have sex while drunk. It isn’t “rape” when there’s consent.
As for the rest, the article stated nothing about corporations being “welfare queens”, therefore, it was not addressed in my comment. I specifically stated “government programs for those who NEED them” are okay (veterans, the elderly, legitimately disabled, ect). But that’s it’s NOT okay for lazy people looking for a free ride to benefit. I have seen, first hand, these fat, lazy able-bodied people who are more than capable of working, but yet choose to sit back and suck of the government… and as a tax-paying citizen, I have a right to “sit on my high-horse” and call them out on it. Thatdoesn’t mean I swallow the bullshit the Tea Partiers and Fox News spews, it only means that I see it from a realistic perspective.

    • Donna Hungate says:

Destiny Phillips - Your name is serendipitous - you are destined to be a heartless, ridiculous, sorry excuse for a human let alone a woman. Are you a Stepford? Nothing I or anyone could say to rebut your rant would make a difference. You just can’t fix stupid.

      • Destiny Phillips says:

        Angry Feminist, much ??
A “Stepford” ? because being a Stay-at-Home Wife hinders my ability to view the world realistically, right ?
Go take one of your anti-depressants and calm down. Everything I stated was, in fact, true.
Stop trying to play a victim.

  • Ginantonic says:

The O’Reilly quote regarding voters isn’t really that idiotic. Consider the mid-term elections.

  • Kyara Peacock says:

John Hagee is a piece of shit!

  • v2787 says:

How can anyone with more than two brain cells ever vote for a GOP politician? I weep for the republic.

  • v2787 says:

By the way, the RNC’s Sharon Day may have been unwittingly correct when she stated, “I don’t want to say anything about your Wisconsin voters but, some of them might not be as sharp as a knife.” After all, and in Day’s defense, many of those Wisconsin voters chose to vote for Scott (Scumbag) Walker for governor. Some of them even did so twice. That’s strongly indicative of a lack of rationality on the part of the Wisconsin electorate.
