Patricia Arquette Cleans Misogynists Clocks With An Oscar Speech For The Ages (VIDEO)

The war on women has truly gotten out of hand. Republicans have gone out of their way to block equal pay, take away women’s rights to make decisions about their own healthcare, and push for women to return to their 1940 role of subservient housewife.

Unfortunately for the GOP, women aren’t taking it sitting down.

Sunday night’s Academy Awards bore a bright and shining moment for all women when Patricia Arquette delivered her acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Boyhood.

After the standard thank you, Arquette ended her speech with this:

To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody’s equal rights. It is our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.

Conservative bloggers and Fox news are most-likely running through miles of film at this very moment trying to find some dirt to discredit her. The meme machines are running wild.

Arquette’s comments aren’t news to those who follow politics. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Arquette talked about the revelations of the Sony hack, proving that women are every bit as talented and sought after, if not more so, than their male counterparts, yet “Jennifer (Lawrence) was paid less than the men?”

The script writers at Fox “News” are scrambling, you can be sure of it.

If what I have read about the wage gap between actors and actresses is true, then I believe something must be done to equalize this, but promoting the already debunked ‘wage gap’ to do it is in bad taste, to say the least.
Random thought. Do you think the reason women are paid less in film is connected to the reason men are paid less in porn? Hmmm, questions upon questions…

    • RealMcCoy

There is nothing “debunked” about the wage gap, you clueless fool. Women are paid less than men for the SAME JOB. As for what people are paid for porn - what makes you think that is in any way relevant to this issue??

      • Jen10

oh dear, that’s just not true. It’s been illegal for nearly 50 years now. I redirect the ‘clueless’ sentiment back atcha.

        • Dawn’s Early Light

So, study after study after study showing women are regularly paid less than their male counterparts are just what? A statistical anomaly?

          • Jen10

Are those the same studies after studies that show women choose safer occupations and work less hours, or are they different studies?

          • Dawn’s Early Light

No, those are the studies that show women with the same level of education and experience, working the same jobs with the same responsibilities, for the same number of hours as their male counterparts are regularly paid less money.

          • Jen10

I would believe you if men didn’t make up 97% of the fatal injury at work statistic or worked 12% more hours than women in 2009.

          • Dawn’s Early Light

Women police officers, women firefighters, women in the military - all face the same hazards as men.
Women in factories face the same hazards.
Know a lot a male CPAs or sales reps getting mowed down on the job, do you?
You are cherry picking your facts to make your point.
In the grand scheme, the big picture, the pay gap exists. Numbers prove this. When hours are balanced, responsibilities are balanced, risks are balanced, women make less money.
Now, you are free to believe whatever you choose. However, your belief, no matter how strong it is, will not change the facts.

          • Jen10

The facts are, there is no evidence to support this statement. There is no study that shows that women police officers, women firefighters, women in the military etc who do the same work and work the same hours as men are paid less than men. It has been illegal to pay a woman less because she is a woman for near 50 years, and the delusion you have to have in order to believe both government and privately run businesses are knowingly and actively breaking this law is ridiculous. I find it funny that you accuse me of cherry picking, when the whole wage gap myth is based on cherry picked, uncontextualized data designed to mislead the masses into thinking that on average, women earn less than men because we have the V.

” you are free to believe whatever you choose” …as if I needed your permission.

          • Dawn’s Early Light

Oh, it’s illegal so it can’t possible be happening.
Okay, Cherry, you have my permission to hang on to your foolish beliefs as tightly as you need to.

          • Jen10

and you have MY permission to indulge your delusions <3

          • Dawn’s Early Light

I think we have time warped back to third grade. 😉

          • Jen10

Well if third grade is where you find people who insist on having the last say, then that is one thing we can agree on ^_^

          • Dawn’s Early Light

Ha ha! No, trust me, that is consistent through all grade levels and out into real life.
I was referring to the “well, you are but what am I?” tone the conversation was taking.
Never pass up the chance to add levity to the world.

    • Dawn’s Early Light

Porn? That is your counter-argument? Men are paid less than women in the adult film industry?
Go back to your “blissful” life, princess.

      • Jen10

        Argument?! It’s a question…

        • Dawn’s Early Light

It’s a silly question. And irrelevant.
The adult industry has nothing to do with the fact female actors, singers, comics, news anchors, you name it, are regularly paid less than their male counterparts, with a very few notable exceptions.

          • Jen10

Oh, I didn’t realize you held the authority on what questions are allowed to be asked along with the authority on relevance…

          • Dawn’s Early Light

Well, now you do. Sorry I didn’t post that somewhere obvious.
Plus, it is a little foolish on your part to concentrate on that considering everything that has been used to disprove your argument on pay inequality.

          • Jen10

Hmm… I don’t feel like I ‘concentrated’ on anything in particular, I just found your response to be lacking, so I responded accordingly…
