Anyone who thought Trump would “grow into the role” as president should think about taking a long walk off a short pier. Not only has Trump continuously shrugged off appeals to mature, he seems to be getting worse.
In a staggering act of pettiness, Trump spent the morning rage-tweeting at the retail store Nordstrom’s after finding out that they had stop carrying his daughter Ivanka’s clothing line. Why the billionaire president cares what stores are selling his daughter’s brand is a sad, sad question we now must - as a country - ask ourselves.

Naturally, it’s also a reminder that Trump has massive conflicts of interest that he has no desire to shed. Ivanka, for instance, has repeatedly appeared next to Trump at his sensitive government meetings - despite supposedly serving as part of his “blind trust” managing his business empire from afar.
But if you were wondering whether there was anything more productive Trump could have been doing with his time while trying to financially harm an American retail business, the answer was “Of course there was!”
As New Yorker writer Ryan Lizza noticed, Trump seemingly tweeted this hit-job on Nordstorm while sitting in his intelligence briefing.
So either Trump was ignoring his own intelligence briefing to rage on Twitter or he’s skipping the briefings entirely. Neither is a comforting option when you consider that Trump is the least qualified, least experienced president in U.S. history. And his ignorance has already had consequences, according to sources in the White House, a clueless Trump ordered a disastrous military raid in Yemen when someone in the meeting mentioned that Obama didn’t want to do it. (Take note: All it takes to egg Trump into a suicide mission is to say “Obama did the opposite.”) His decision resulted in a dead Navy SEAL and civilian casualties. While it was unfolding, Trump was in the White House bedroom - likely in a bathrobe and watching TV as he reportedly does every night.
It’s becoming more clear by the day that Trump, having entered the race to stoke his ego, has no desire to actually do the job of president.
