And for Cthulhu’s sake don’t get them wet!
Anthony Culler (R-SC), vying for the 6th Congressional District, wrote a scathing dissent of same-sex marriage where he compared homosexuals to “Gremlins” in a Facebook post October 14:
If you believe in traditional families and that marriage is defined as an institution between one man and one woman then I ask that you start acting like it and START VOTING like it! Do not buy the ‘cuteness’ and ‘What will it hurt?’ arguments whispered in your ears and marketed to our children. Same-sex couples that seek to destroy our way of life and the institution of marriage are NOT cute and cuddly but rather (for those of you that are old enough to remember the movie), Gremlins that will only destroy our way of life.
Gremlins. Conservatives sure love their hyperbole.
Culler penned the dissent to also criticize his opponent, Jim Clyburn (D-SC), over his support for gay marriage saying:
My opponent for the Sixth District, Congressman Jim Clyburn, openly supports same-sex ‘marriage’ even though the people of the Sixth District (that he was elected to represent but has chosen instead to abandon and ignore) are MORE AGAINST same-sex ‘marriage’ than ANY other district in the State of South Carolina!
The remarks sparked a crazy-off between Culler and Libertarian candidate, Daniel Encarnacion, when he unexpectedly threw his hat into the ring. Announcing his candidacy over a Facebook post over the weekend, and then nationally on Monday.
Here is part of Encarnacion’s statement sitting on Facebook with a lonely eight likes and two comments:
Most recently [Culler] embarrassed our party by calling gays ‘grimlins’ [sic]. I’ve decided to put my name out there as a write in candidate. Is it winnable? Frankly, probably not. But let’s give voters there a choice to vote for a pro-liberty candidate who will eliminate the IRS, slash government spending back to 1997 levels, repeal the Patriot Act, stop NSA eavesdropping, protect the right to keep and bear arms, and promote a true free market.
Dude! You forgot “legalizing marijuana!” Bad Libertarian.
While Encarnacion’s defense of the LGBTQ community is commendable, he, nor Culler, have a snowball’s chance in hell on winning this race. The Hill predicts the Democratic re-elect will be the winner; it would seem there are more “gremlin-sympathizers” in that district than Culler would have one believe.
The full-length rant is below for your viewing pleasure:

Culler goes anti-gay in Facebook calling same-sex couples “bullies” and Gremlins.

gaydar pinging on this guy
sorry that my committed monogamous relationship with another dude threatens your marriage, you insecure fuck.
Someone with a brain in South Carolina should educate this redneck that gay people are real and gremlins are not.
Pity, he just missed National Coming Out Day: now he’ll have to hide in closet for another year.
and the white trash regressive religious republicans just keep giving to the voting people of America,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
He probably should not have used the word Gremlin but what he really means and what is definitely true, is what the Bible says…..”A little leaven, leaveneth the whole lump”. Unfortunately not being privy to the spiritual side of life, many do not realize the damage this homosexual thing is causing. It is your children and grandchildren who will suffer the consequences. You obviously dont know how much the FAMILY unit holds together the “fabric of society”. But if you want a glimpse of the future, take a look at Chapter 19, the book of Genesis, thats the Bible, in case you aren’t familiar with it. And remember, just because you dont believe in God or the Bible, doesn’t make it any less real.
