Donald Trump decided that he would give Rep. Keith Ellison, who is running for head of the Democratic National Committee, a backhanded compliment on Twitter. But things didn’t go quite as he had planned. Ellison’s response put Trump in his place with one simple tweet.
After noting that Ellison is hoping to head up the DNC, Trump could find only one good thing to say about him: that he had foreseen Trump’s election win.
“One thing I will say about Rep. Keith Ellison, in his fight to lead the DNC, is that he was the one who predicted early that I would win!” Trump tweeted.

Unfortunately for Trump, Ellison wasn’t exactly impressed and decided to hit back. His response contained a compliment that followed the same spirit of Trump’s tweet and offered one more prediction about the future of American politics.
Ellison said that the determination to stop Trump and his bigoted policies are uniting the country like never before. His prediction? The United States will come together rather than let Trump divide us.
