The House Select Committee on Benghazi continues its spiral into chaos. Its chairman, Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC), slammed fellow Republican, Richard Hanna (R-NY), for his revelations that the whole purpose of the committee was to bring down Hillary Clinton. As the GOP breaks ranks, can a complete downfall of this sham of an investigation be far behind?
According to UPI, Gowdy railed:
There are seven members of the Benghazi Committee who are intimately familiar with the work of the committee, the motives behind the work, and the results of that work. Congressman Hanna is not one of them.
Running investigations in a private, fact-centric way is unquestionably the right way to conduct a serious investigation. The pitfall, of course, is that commentators, and sometimes even members of your own conference, offer thoughts on matters on which they are not familiar.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy also said that the purpose of the panel was to bring Hillary down. Furthermore, there is a staffer who has filed suit against the committee because he believes he was fired for refusing to target Hillary. Although Hanna has since said that his comments on this were being misinterpreted, it’s like the dominoes are falling, and Gowdy is very unhappy.
Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS), another member of the Benghazi committee, sides with Gowdy on this. He told Renee Montagne, of NPR, that they’re just wrong. He said that they haven’t actually been engaged in what work the committee has been doing since May of last year, so they don’t really know what’s going on.
Pompeo further claimed that the committee was focusing on Hillary’s emails because they had to contain a huge piece to the Benghazi puzzle that was missing. He also said that the committee has been very professional in many ways, including not leaking crucial information. Pompeo believes that, in the end, the American people will see that the committee did a very important job.
In other words, Pompeo is Benghazingly Benghaziing his Benghazist Benghazis in order to continue to try and sell the rightness of the committee to the American people. Beating the Benghazi drum is the only way to turn the focus off of their witch-hunt against Hillary Clinton.
UPI says that Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) has filed ethics complaints against both McCarthy and Gowdy in light of these revelations. Because of that, we can expect Gowdy to further defend the committee’s actions until they’re either fully cleared, or, as we expect, they run out of defenses for this.

If you were watching TV on 9/11, all the channels were showing the preparations by the FBI and NY LE. WTC was cordoned off and LE were checking each person. Previous terrorist acts had been car and truck bombs including the first under Bill Clinton so they were checking on that. They also had a no fly zone in case of a private plane. But no one, meaning NO ONE knew they would use a passenger jet full of Americans. It took less than an hour to get approval of any others that veered off course and the Pennsylvania crash would have been shot down if the passengers had not have tried to save it, but it crashed anyway.
So tell me where is the investigation on what he knew??? There have been sources that said there was warnings…Sooo where is the investigation on that, there is no way you can point at Clinton but refuse to look at Bush when he was the sitting President…If Clintont knew something then BUSH should have as well…so where is all the hoopla on that???? My understanding on the law is that even when those e-mails are deleted they still can be recovered unless you seek to destroy that server which is what she did.
