Screenwriter Craig Mazin is famous for his involvement with the scripts for movies such as “The Hangover 2 & 3,” and “Scary Movie 3 & 4.” But Mazin had a period in his life that must have been his own real-life “Scary Movie” — He was Ted Cruz’s college roommate.
Mazin roomed with Cruz at Princeton during his freshman year, in 1988. The experience has left him with a lifelong contempt of the Texas senator from Canada, and he doesn’t bother to hide it. Mazin has been telling followers about his experience as Cruz’s roommate for the past several years now. What he has to say about Cruz isn’t pretty.
Mazin tweets seemingly nonstop about Cruz. Comments, criticisms, stories of what living with Cruz was like — it’s all there. His commentary goes back at least to 2012, when he made the following remark about a predicted Cruz victory in the race to replace Kay Bailey Hutchinson as U.S. Senator from Texas:
This is what Mazin had to say about Cruz’s 2013 filibuster when he took to the Senate floor and read Dr. Seuss’s “Green Eggs and Ham”:
Since Cruz’s victory in Monday’s Iowa caucuses, Mazin has been on a roll. He has had plenty to say about Cruz’s victory, like this:
Of course, Cruz supporters are trolling Mazin as he trolls Cruz. Would it surprise you to learn that none of them are getting over on him? Like this exchange, with a Cruz fan who responds to the tweet above by pointing out that Cruz got more votes in Iowa than any GOP candidate before him.
One of Mazin’s followers wonders who had the worst Princeton roommate, Mazin, or her brother-in-law, who roomed with Lyle Menendez. Menendez was convicted with his brother Erik of the shotgun murder of their parents. Mazin has to think about that for a moment.
One guy asks if Mazin and Cruz ever did anything fun together.
Someone else wants to know if Mazin ever overheard the things that Cruz prayed about. Mazin’s answer is no surprise.
Mazin weighs in on charges by Trump and Carson that Cruz cheated to win Iowa, then lets everybody in on a little secret about Cruz.
Which explains Cruz’s high pitched voice. He’s always lying.
Craig Mazin’s Twitter page is a treasure trove of information for Cruz haters. The tweets above are just a very small sample. The man literally tweets about practically nothing except Cruz. You can read more of Mazin’s comments on Twitter (@clmazin).
