The first 5 days of Trump’s (alleged) presidency have been pretty eventful, to say the least — and not in a good way.
In addition to all of the terrifying executive orders he has signed so far — most of which infringe on human rights in a way that sets us back 100 years — Trump has been very busy on social media posting authoritarian tweets that sound like he’s really settling into this whole dictator role.
On Tuesday, within just a matter of an hour or so, he let loose with these unhinged tweets:
He continues his rant with his redundant voter fraud claims — if you’re wondering why THIS came up again, given the random nature of his thought process, it’s just another day in Trump’s brain:
But Seth Meyers has been taking “A Closer Look” at Trump’s behavior for quite some time now, especially since his inauguration, and on Wednesday night’s episode of Late Night, he points out something pretty interesting — a lot of Trump’s tweets come after he’s taken cues from watching television — Fox News in particular.
After citing an article from Politico, which says that according to Trump aides, “he gets bored and likes to watch TV,” Seth says to aides:
“Hey, I hear ya! I’m dealing with the same issue with my son — he’s 9 months old — and we’re trying to observe a no screens rule, but sometimes he gets cranky and the only thing that works is Dora the Explorer, so… BEEN THERE!”
After showing a picture of Trump watching Dora the Explorer, Seth explains that according to an article from The Washington Post, “Trump has been resentful, even furious, at what he views as the media’s failure to reflect the magnitude of his achievements,” and that “he feels demoralized that the public’s perception of his presidency so far does not necessarily align with his own sense of accomplishment.” You know, because he’s been president for SUCH a very long time now…
“Accomplishment! You’ve been president for FIVE DAYS” Seth exclaims, “and it seems like most of that time has been spent signing giant documents and then showing people that you signed them!”
“It’s like how you read a book to kids, ‘and then Donny built a wall, and then there’s a picture of the wall.'” Seth mocks.
Meyers continues, pointing out the irony of Trump’s advisors having to tell him to move on from the media coverage of the lackluster crowds at his inauguration and focus on the responsibilities of the presidency, which brings us to one of the scariest parts of the segment — Trump taking cues from Bill O’Reilly, which end up as presidential promises on Twitter.
We don’t want to give it all away, though. You have to watch. The full video is below:
When your aides have to try to minimize the amount of TV you watch so that you don’t turn into a giant orange crybaby, it’s pretty SAD!
