Melania Trump has made the audacious choice to live in the garish penthouse suite at the Trump Tower in New York instead of moving with her husband to the White House after inauguration day. Her reason? So that their son, Barron, can finish out the school year at the Upper West Side private school he is presently attending.
According to a New York Post source, “Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign… The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Disruption? HA! Just wait!
Both Melania and Barron will be followed by numerous Secret Service agents along with a driver for the armored vehicle that will escort them. Each morning, a team of agents will scan the private school, where tuition is upwards of $45,000, to make sure it’s safe. I’m sure this will be just lovely for everyone. Did she think about the potential pandemonium this will cause the administration, let alone the other students? Of course not.
And apparently, the comfort of a 10-year old is also more important than the anarchy this decision will cause not only for their neighbors but New Yorkers and tourists as well.
It’s been complete chaos in the area since the election, with West 56th Street closed to traffic between Fifth and Madison avenues. Tourists and shoppers have also been subjected to bag checks through a security cordon. These measures will only get more intense once Trump is sworn in and subsequently leaves his family to move to Washington to do the job he was elected to do.
As Jim Reese, a former Delta Force commander and president of TigerSwan, a global security company based in North Carolina, put it:
“That building is going to become the White House of New York. The Secret Service is going to have to keep that whole area cordoned off so that some wacko can’t get close and detonate a car bomb.”
According to officials who spoke at a joint NYPD, Secret Service and City Hall news conference Friday, two of the five lanes on Fifth Avenue between West 56th and 57th streets will continue to be closed because of barriers.
According to a source connected to the Trump transition:
“Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as first lady.”
