Sarah Palin took the stage at the Iowa Freedom Summit on Saturday, giving perhaps one of the most bizarre speeches she has ever made, according to a multitude of commentators on Twitter. For those not familiar with the significance of the event, it is the first unofficial meeting bringing together every potential 2016 Republican candidate for President under one roof, with a few notable exceptions being Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush.
Palin was greeted with huge applause before giving a 35-minute speech where she spends half of her time talking about how the media is out to get her. She explains exactly how her standing with a “Fuc_ you Michael Moore” picture came to be in the preceding two days before the speech. She said:
We took a lot of heat over that for which he deserves. I’m just taking heat for what everyone else is thinking. We just said it.
She then offered her solution for how the Republicans were going to take on the Democrats:
We go on offense.
Palin attacks Democrats as being the real sexists, and racists:
We go on offense now because we realize this is war. We don’t sit on our thumbs when one of our own is being crucified and falsely accused for whatever the hip accusation of the day is, racism, sexism, whatever disgusting charges from the left. We reverse [the charges] and let them know that it is the left who don’t realize they are the real ones who are discriminating and divide on color, on class, and on sex. We call them out and don’t let them get away with it.
Palin says Dems are the real racists and sexists:
In another segment of her speech, she starts saying things that just don’t seem to make any sense. Your guess is as good as mine.
Take a look:
While Palin has said some crazy things in the past, the real reason this is notable is due to the star caliber of Presidential candidates in attendance cheering her on. The fact that the Republican Party continues to make her their poster child at their biggest events just makes it that much easier to judge a book by its cover. And, one thing is for certain, it ain’t pretty.
