Sounds like you are unaware… Here are the different types of female circ (FGM):

Type 1:
Excision of the prepuce, with or without excision of part or all of the clitoris.
Type 2:
Excision of the clitoris with partial or total excision of the labia minora
Type 3:
Excision of part or all of the external genitalia and stitching/narrowing of the vaginal opening (infibulation). Sometimes referred to as pharaonic circumcision.
Type 4:
Others, such as pricking, piercing or incising, stretching, burning of the clitoris, scraping of tissue surrounding the vaginal orifice, cutting of the vagina, introduction of corrosive substances or herbs into the vagina to cause bleeding or to tighten the opening.

There are different types of FGM.

There is only 1 type of MGM. Because removal of anything further would render the man unable to bare children.

FGM: Is the removal of mucosa membrane tissue and nerve endings.
Removal of nerve endings is to reduce physical sensation. Removal of nerve endings from genital tissue is to reduce sexual pleasure, to be “clean” and/or “pure”.

MGM: Is the removal of mucosa tissue and nerve endings. However, the difference here is in males, the prepuce (a.k.a. foreskin) is literally fused to the glans penis. Much like a finger/toe nail is fused/adhered to the nail bed. In order for a male to be circed as a defenseless infant, you must first forcibly separate the prepuce from the glans, using a probing instrument forced into the penis to rip the prepuce from the glans. Then the prepuce is clamped and/or crushed, then cut off.
This is the removal of the highest concentration of special sensory nerve endings consisting of the following type of nerve endings: Meissner’s corpuscles, Merkel’s disc cells, Ruffini’s corpuscles, Pacinian corpuscles.
They are found only in the tongue, lips, palms, fingertips, nipples, and the clitoris and the crests of the ridged band at the tip of the male foreskin.

So, since circumcision is solely to reduce sexual pleasure by the removal of mucosa membrane tissue, nerve endings, and in the case of males, since the foreskin is used for masturbation, is to make masturbation more difficult, how are they different?

Forcibly removing genital tissue from non-consenting, defenseless infants, regardless of gender is utterly disgusting.

I don’t know how old you are, though you seem very young, but women have had quotas and Affirmative Action for a very long time. I’m 47 and women have had special rights my entire life.

My doctor is a woman. 3 of the 5 doctors at my doctor’s office are women. It was 4 of 6 but a husband and wife left to start their own practice.

Except for my 5th grade math teacher, I had only female teachers in elementary school. In junior high school only my PE teachers were male.

Women in the military get special treatment and tend to have the cushy office jobs away from the combat zone. How many coal miners are women? The best I can find is that in 1984, there were 3,773 women coal miners in North America (US and Canada). This covers both under and above ground mines. Countering for the massive decline in the number of coal miners in the last 30 years, it would put women at less than 1% of all coal miners. Unfortunately there is no way to separate out how many women worked under ground and how many worked above ground where is a lot less dangerous.

No, of course I’m not suggesting that in the least. However I do think that pitting one gender against the other is never going to move things forward. I think that when things like these are posted, there is not really any real discussion that could lead to change of how the sexes are treated by the opposite, but just emotionally charged arguments and ad hominem attacks and it doesn’t solve anything.

I agree with all the males that have said on this thread that male genital mutilation is wrong. I wouldn’t want someone doing that to me if I were male, so I can’t tell them that female genital mutilation is much worse because for one, I don’t have that body part, so I couldn’t possibly know, and for two, ow, just ow. The point I was trying to make from my more than aggravated post up above was that we should be more empathetic towards each other as humans, but not empathetic to just those who are in our own gender. Things like genital mutilation, sexism (like what’s in the woman’s post in the article it’s disgusting and harmful to men, and from the way she describes it, to take away his sexual pleasure is the exact same reason that people mutilate genitalia in women, it’s sick and disgusting and it needs to be addressed. If men don’t like it, it should be stopped) are human issues, not just men’s issues or women’s issues.

We are most certainly in agreement about that. I’ve only ever read of one case where circumcision was medically necessary, and that was in the case of Louis XVI. Other than that, it is cruel and it needs to stop.

Sadly, I can also see your point about some feminists as well. I used to identify as one until recently, now I am not so sure. I’ve seen myself still do it as a knee-jerk reaction to some news story that is supposed to stir up the emotions of the readers, but I’m starting to think that this is not a good idea. It seems like identifying myself as standing up for one gender and only one gender makes it seem like I lack empathy for the other one. I think a better and more fair way to self-identify is as a humanist.

I can understand your indifference towards other people, I’ve been there, but I have become the opposite of that in recent years. The internet is the only place I broadcast this, but I am on the Autism Spectrum and while I used to have no use for social interaction, I do now. I decided to give it a go. It was very rewarding in that I found friends - both male and female - that I would always lift a finger to help. They made me realize that having them in my life is more important than stubbornly sticking to one ideology or the other. Relationships will always come first. The people I’ve met who don’t agree with me have some fascinating opinions that I would like to discuss.

Yesterday I read an article from a feminist who said that even once there is true gender equality, which is her goal, men must still pay for everything and put women on pedestals. Warehouses are much more dangerous workplaces, than “front of the house” store jobs.

The lawsuit isn’t saying that men who work in the same job are getting paid more. The lawsuit says that people who work in the stores should get paid as much as those who work in the warehouses. They claim it’s gender biased because few women work in the warehouses and few men work in the stores. The lawsuit isn’t claiming discriminatory hiring practices, either. The lawsuit is saying that cashiers should get paid as much as warehouse workers.

In the UK, cashiers sit during their shift. That’s quite the opposite of warehouse work.

Just because you’re a woman, doesn’t mean you can do less work and get paid the same.

Let’s look at another example; road construction.

The flaggers who direct traffic make less than the people do the physical work. Is that fair? In your eyes, I guess it would depend on which one was the female. In true equality, it would be the person doing the harder job that gets paid more.

Also, if I’m doing the job of 2 or 3 women because I’m stronger, then shouldn’t I get paid more than women? Of course I wouldn’t get paid double or triple what women get paid, but I do deserve more in that case.
