Police in Maine report that a woman ran over her boyfriend on Saturday night after she walked in on him attempting to sexually assault her 12-year-old niece.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s officers responded to a home in Nobleboro, Maine, at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, after receiving a call about a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they found 48-year-old James Oliver in the driveway. Oliver had been run over by a car driven by 53-year-old Linda Currier.
According to WGME, police say the fight between Oliver and Currier began when Currier caught Oliver allegedly attempting to sexually assault her niece inside the home. The fight then continued outside, where Currier allegedly ran over Oliver with her car. Police say that both Currier and Oliver had been drinking.
Oliver was taken to the hospital with what is being called a “serious leg injury.” Currier was charged with driving under the influence and aggravated assault.
Oliver, who is a convicted sex offender, was charged with attempted gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual touching, and failure to comply with the sex offender registration act. He is in prison, awaiting a court appearance.
Police say the 12-year-old victim did not sustain any injuries requiring medical treatment.
