During the NRA’s meeting in Nashville over the weekend (the one where only non-operational guns were allowed to be showcased and sold), speaker and NRA board member Ted Nugent shared an analogy that described him shooting Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
During the Q&A session, one ill-advised, slack-jawed yokel stood up and asked the Nuge:
How and why did the NRA ever endorse Harry Reid to serve as the front man of Osama Obama?
(To be clear, the NRA never really endorsed Reid. However, the NRA did donate $4,000 in 2010 to Reid’s reelection efforts.)
Nugent claimed that Reid is a “lying prick.” This is coming from a man who swore three years ago:
If Obama gets elected, by this time next year, I’ll be dead or in jail. You don’t believe me? I am as serious as a heart attack.
Well, Nugent is neither dead nor in jail, so that makes him a liar as well. In his NRA speech, he said, referencing the retiring Minority Leader:
If your child is dying and there is only one way to get to the doctor, would you get on Harry Reid’s boat to get there? … I’d get on the boat, get there, and then I’d shoot him.
Continuing the quest for freedom, Nugent urged the freedom fighters of the NRA to trust them, because the NRA will never hurt them and love them forever:
If you see them endorse someone like Harry Reid it’s because this deceptive bastard actually stood up for our Second Amendment rights contrary to the alternative candidate. When the NRA makes a move that you’re not sure about, please give them the benefit of the doubt.
Another great piece of information, Visa and the NRA have teamed up together in a partnership. Oh, joy! For only 18.99% interest, you can help fund those important programs that the NRA has to offer at “no charge” to you! Gun safety group Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has criticized this partnership with a petition, arguing, “That means that Visa is helping to pay for NRA lobbyists who advocate against common-sense policies like background checks on gun buyers.”
A long list of political Klown Kar Kandidates were also in attendance. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, and more. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence canceled his appearance, as did former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Bummer.
Thanks to Media Matters, we also have these inspiring one liners from the Nuge:
- He urged the audience to contact their elected officials to suggest Hillary Clinton should be put in jail. (Because apparently if you call and complain enough about someone, your elected officials can arrest them?)
- After an audience member made an apparent reference to sending Obama “back to Kenya,” Nugent said, “It would be a great boat ride, I’d actually pilot that one.”
- When asked about what to do if law enforcement comes to your house to take firearms, Nugent said that for now you should “pursue the legal process” and advised, “You don’t need to start a firefight…yet.”
