Republicans have always been known to make those of us who aren’t bat-shit crazy scratch our heads with their backward logic and ability to rewrite history. But their reasoning as to why liberals should be nicer to poor old Donald Trump is enough to leave your jaw on the floor. They seem to have completely forgotten just how they have treated President Obama for the past eight years.
Republican Ben Ferguson appeared on CNN Saturday evening to complain about John Lewis, a respected congressman and civil rights hero, saying that he won’t attend Donald Trump’s inauguration because he doesn’t think he is a “legitimate president.”
Ferguson said that he just couldn’t imagine the “fallout, the backfire that you would have if a Republican would have ever implied that about Barack Obama.”
CNN’s Poppy Harlow cut him off and tried to set him straight.
“Ben, Ben, Ben,” she said. “That’s exactly what many Republicans did, including the president-elect, for years. Questioning the legitimacy of first black president. Which, by the way, many saw as racist.”
But as we all know, it is damn near impossible to reason with conservatives these days. Facts and truth don’t ever enter into the equation anymore.
