Speaking to reporters in Manila, Philippines Wednesday, President Obama responded to the widespread panic in the Republican Party over refugees. “We are not well served when, in response to a terrorist attack, we descend into fear and panic. We don’t make good decisions if it’s based on hysteria or an exaggeration of risks,” the President said.
That’s exactly what the GOP has done. In response to the terrorist attacks in Paris, they have decided that they do not want to accept Syrian refugees into America. Obama mocked their fear of “widows” and “children”:
Apparently, they are scared of widows and orphans coming into the United States of America. At first they were too scared of the press being too tough on them in the debates. Now they are scared of 3-year-old orphans. That doesn’t seem so tough to me.
It is rather funny that the party who claims to be so tough is afraid of everything. They are afraid of being asked real questions; they are afraid of anyone who has a funny accent; they are afraid of anyone who has melanin in their skin; they are afraid of CHILDREN!
That wasn’t all he said, the president also went after Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush who seem to think only Christian refugees should be allowed in the country.
When individuals say we should have a religious test and that only Christians, proven Christians, should be admitted, that’s offensive. It needs to stop; because the world is watching.
Not only is it offensive, it goes against everything this country was founded on and it is embarrassing. It is shameful that an entire political party has decided they are going to ignore the Constitution and try to force us into a theocracy. What is worse is that they are targetting CHILDREN with their bigotry. But these people are “Christians.”
