Racism doesn’t always mean calling someone a n****r and strutting around in a white sheet. Sometimes racism is subtle. A stereotype here, some coded language there. Other times, racism manifests itself into a revolting display that leaves your jaw on the floor. Such is the case with this horribly racist ad airing in China which promises a soap so strong it will clean the black off of you.
The video begins with a young Chinese woman doing laundry. In walks a young African-American man with a dirty shirt and paint splattered all over him. As he walks up to her and embraces her, she grabs him and forcefully shoves him into the washing machine head first. When he reappears, surprisingly alive after going through a washing machine, but I digress, he pops out a clean-cut young Chinese man.
Nothing racist here folks, move along.
Regardless of country or culture, it is hard to figure out exactly what the fuck would make anybody think this was a good idea. I am at a loss when it comes to figuring out how this is considered acceptable anywhere in 2016. But here it is, more proof that at least when it comes to racism, the more things change the more they stay the same, no matter where you are.
If you thought that racism was a problem confined to America, this disgusting ad will show you just how wrong are.
