The FBI just released video showing the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Ammon Bundy and other militants as well as the fatal shooting of Robert “LaVoy” Finicum, also known as “Tarp Man.” Finicum died after the fleeing the police in a high-speed chase following a traffic stop. He and other militants had left the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to go to a community meeting in the town of John Day.
Initially, reports from the militants were that Finicum’s hands were up and he was unarmed when officers shot him. However, the FBI has released footage showing that simply wasn’t the case.
In the video you can see the white truck stopped and then take off, speeding down the road. At the 9 minute and 15 second mark, the vehicle slams into a snow bank. Finicum can be seen exiting the truck with his hands up but soon he reaches towards his pocket and then drops to the ground – shot.
The Oregonian is reporting that officials say a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found in that pocket.
