Last July, after 5 police officers were shot and killed during a protest in Dallas, TX, Tomi Lahren, Dallas-based commentator and Glenn Beck protégé of The Blaze, made herself famous by tweeting out that “black lives matter” was the “new KKK.”
Since that infamous tweet last summer, Lahren has become the new voice of hate on the conservative news circuit, and at only 24-years-old, that’s quite an accomplishment.
Wednesday night Lahren appeared on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and the two clashed right off the bat when Noah asked her, “Why are you so angry?” while simultaneously playing clips of her “Final Thoughts” rants on The Blaze. During one clip in particular, Lahren calls anti-Trump protesters “crybabies with nothing better to do than meander around the streets with their participation trophies and false sense of purpose.” She defends her statement in that clip by saying, “I’m actually not that angry. It’s just that there are things that need to be said and a lot of people are afraid to say ’em.”
“You can’t say you’re not angry,” Noah said. “This is what you’re known for. It’s a strange thing to say, ‘I’m not angry’ but that’s like Ellen saying, ‘I don’t like dancing.’ Yeah, you do, Ellen, you do. You are angry, about everything, it seems.”
“Sometimes, people just need to be called on their shit,” Lahren said calmly. “Protesting a free and fair election? You’re going to get called on your shit a little. It’s time to clear the street, accept reality and move on.”
Trevor goes on to confront her on several issues, including her comparison of Black Lives Matter to the Ku Klux Klan.
“For someone who’s not racist,” he pointed out, “you have to spend a lot of time a lot of time saying, ‘I’m not racist.'”
Only six minutes of their heated interview aired, but because of the immediate reaction from fans of the show, Comedy Central posted the extended episode on their YouTube channel. You can watch that in its entirety here:
