Apparently murdering nine innocent people while they study the Bible together, inside a church, can make a racist gun nut really hungry.
On June 17, 2015, Dylann Storm Roof entered the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Initially, he sat with a group who welcomed him warmly. Roof told police that he “almost didn’t go through with it because everyone was so nice to him.” But eventually said, the hell with that, I need to murder these nice people, because they’re black. One survivor told NBC:
“You rape our women, and you’re taking over our country. And you have to go.”
Once everyone was good and dead, Dylann Storm Roof fled in a black sedan — with a Confederate States of America license plate on the front — headed toward North Carolina, where he was detained during a traffic stop in Shelby, North Carolina — some 245 miles North of the crime scene.
By 7:45 p.m. the following evening, June 18, Roof was in custody in Charleston County, South Carolina. But not before his arresting officers stopped to feed Roof at a Burger King. Apparently, the shooter had only consumed some water and Doritos since murdering nine innocent people. Because murder makes you hungry. And according to South Carolina law:
“Any police officer or deputy sheriff in any industrial community may confine in such prison or building as the president, treasurer or other executive officer having the management of any industrial corporation may provide in any such community any person who may be arrested charged with violation of law until such arrested person can be conveniently carried before a magistrate; provided, however, that:
“(1) Such police officer or deputy sheriff shall not detain any arrested person in such prison longer than eighteen hours, except a person arrested on Saturday and then not over forty-two hours; and
“(2) Such police officer or deputy sheriff shall provide water and food and shall also furnish such arrested person with sufficient bedding or clothing to make him comfortable in cold weather.”
In addition to being provided with food and beverage, he was also afforded a bullet-proof vest so that he wouldn’t be hurt in the event someone decided to do unto him as he had done unto others. Or, you might say, “DylannStormRoofed.”
There is, of course, a stark contrast to how black people who commit far less egregious “offenses” have been treated by police than when their white counterparts garner inexplicable gentle treatment for much more horrible violations of humanity.
When you check New York’s penal code for punishment for selling cigarettes — loose or otherwise — without a license, it states that it is punishable by fine. However, if you are BLACK the crime becomes heinous and is punishable by death via chokehold, courtesy of an army of NYPD officers:
While it was impossible to find any such law that outlaws playing with toy guns in the “open carry” state of Ohio, apparently if you’re a BLACK 12-year-old playing with a pellet gun in a park in Cleveland, fuggeddaboutit… you’re dead, too:
And in Beavercreak, Ohio, if you are BLACK while shopping for toy guns at a WalMart while talking on your cell phone — that is punishable by death, as well:[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6oBqR-GFQE?feature=player_detailpage&w=640&h=360]
And don’t get caught being BLACK while swimming:
According to FindLaw.com, the penalties for jaywalking “typically include a fine similar to a parking ticket.” BUT, all that changes if you’re BLACK and jaywalking in Ferguson, Missouri:
Not only will they shoot you dead, they won’t bother calling an ambulance, and they will leave you there for hours to bleed out while the entire neighborhood is forced to watch from their doorsteps.
In closing, according to The New York Times, Roof’s 2,500-word manifesto included this passage:
“I have no choice. I am not in the position to, alone, go into the ghetto and fight. I chose Charleston because it is [the] most historic city in my state, and at one time had the highest ratio of blacks to Whites in the country. We have no skinheads, no real KKK, no one doing anything but talking on the internet. Well someone has to have the bravery to take it to the real world, and I guess that has to be me.
Racism is real, people. And racism is making racists very hungry. And the police are feeding them.
