A conservative dad decided to send a threatening email to teachers at his child’s school over sex education classes – because that is totally responsible parenting. The email stated that he was going to “retaliate” and caused several Iowa schools to be sent into lock down.
The email read in part:
“Decorah schools spiritually declared war against my house today. When I retaliate Monday morning…”
The absolutely hilariously ridiculous part of this: Divers could have simply signed a waiver to exempt his child from the fourth-grade curriculum, and any discussions held in correlation to the curriculum at the beginning of the year, according to Decorah Community School District Superintendent Mike Haluska.
Haluska told KWWL:
Interestingly enough, we have paper work available at the beginning of the school year for anyone who wishes to have their children exempted from any conversations that have to do with that type of subject matter.
Apparently, this “spiritual war” declared by reality on his house was actually his choice to either ignore the paperwork concerning the upcoming education of his child or to try to get attention by throwing a giant hissy fit over something that he already knew was coming. Either way, this theatrical threat got Bruce “Deano” Divers, Jr. slapped with harassment charges in relation to the email, because you cannot make a statement referencing an act of war and promise retaliation nowadays without causing terror.
Classes were held as usual, but about a quarter of the districts 1,700 children were absent, meaning that the families of over 400 children were too terrified to send their children to a school that was under threat by yet another fundamentalist conservatives
terroristic threat temper tantrum.
