Lift Every Voice And Sing: Help Samuel L. Jackson’s Freedom Challenge Go Viral (VIDEO)

Mega-star Samuel L. Jackson just took another step up the ladder of bad*ss.

The forceful, charismatic star appeared rather humble, yet daring, in an amateur selfie video he shot issuing a challenge to his fellow celebrities on behalf of freedom and humanity.

The video comes in response to the protests and national angst felt by the nation in the wake of two grand juries failing to indict officers for the murders of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York.

Jackson released the video via his Facebook page and states:

All you celebrities out there who poured ice water on your head, here’s a chance to do something else.

Jackson continued:

I challenge all of you to sing the “We ain’t gonna stop, till people are free” song. Here we go…

Jackson then proceeds to sing the song himself. Concluding afterward:

Come on. Sing it out.

The song is a clear nod to the last words of victim, Eric Garner – “I can’t breathe.”

I can hear my neighbor cryin’ ‘I can’t breathe’

Now I’m in the struggle and I can’t leave.

Callin’ out the violence of the racist police.

We ain’t gonna stop, till people are free.

We ain’t gonna stop, till people are free.

There’s no reason all the solidarity should be extended by celebrities, alone. Let’s all get into the act. Let’s make this action go viral, “We Are the World” style. Record your own videos singing the “We ain’t gonna stop, till people are free” song and upload them to social media for all to share. If enough people share them online, perhaps a database or site will begin compiling them all. Let the sheer volume of them create a virtual march in song loud enough for the racist establishment to hear, to bend, and to break.

Feel free to upload your own videos singing the song and share them beneath this article.

We ain’t gonna stop, till people are free.
