When Donald Trump first began running for President, most people looked at him as a cartoonish buffoon who was fun to point and laugh at. However, as the dangerous bigotry of his campaign tapped into the darkest elements of American populism, it propelled him to the top of the GOP ticket. Soon, the laughter turned to horror. According MSNBC terror analyst Malcolm Nance, Trump is helping ISIS recruit and radicalize western Muslims and other vulnerable individuals. He says of Trump’s rhetoric:
I will go so far as to say Donald Trump is the ISIS candidate. He inflames the passions of people in the West to perform Islamophobia, to draw recruits to them, to make them say ‘This is what America is.’
Nance’s expert opinion is backed up by the fact that ISIS and other radical terror groups have used clips of Trump’s outrageous statements about Muslims in their insidious forms of online propaganda. Trump has said that Hillary Clinton is a “weak person” and that such groups “have dreams about” her becoming the next Commander-in-Chief of the United States. Nance dismissed Trump’s breathtakingly uninformed assertions as “laughable.”
Think terrorism is a problem now? Elect Donald Trump, and we’ll really see what terror really is. It’s clear ISIS is hoping for the opportunity.
