The Nevada Assemblywoman who had the Internet laughing at her Christmas card has been piling up the crazy for a while now. Recently, she made some inflammatory remarks about killing Muslims. Considering the Christmas picture with her family, this is not unexpected. GOPers have been saying some crazy sh*t lately.
Michele Fiore, who represents an area of Clark County northeast of Las Vegas, was hosting her weekly radio show on Nov. 21st, discussing the Syrian refugees. Fiore mentioned a conversation she had with a GOP political consultant about a letter signed by several other Republicans in the state assembly which voiced opposition to the settlement of refugees in Nevada. When Chuck Muth asked Fiore why she hadn’t signed the letter, she told him:
What–are you kidding me? I’m about to fly to Paris and shoot ‘em in the head myself!
Charming, but not out of character for a woman who peddles a “Walk The Talk” calendar. Or gives guns to small children.
She didn’t stop there, though. She apparently thought that her statement was unclear so she made sure her listeners understood:
I am not OK with Syrian refugees. I’m not OK with terrorists. I’m OK with putting them down, blacking them out, just put a piece of brass in their ocular cavity and end their miserable life. I’m good with that.
So, she’s okay with murdering Syrian refugees? Most of whom are women, children and the elderly. And families. But I guess that only families that look like hers deserve to live.
She is also good with giving ridiculous advice to cancer patients. Fiore, you see, thinks that cancer is a fungus. You read that correctly; a fungus. And this fungus can be easily treated with intravenous salt-water. If that were the case, every cancer patient would be cured after their first chemo session. Salt water is typically used as an IV solution: sodium chloride dissolved in water. If that alone killed cancer cells, there would be no need to add the chemo meds.
Fiore’s resume doesn’t stop there. She supported Cliven Bundy’s little hoedown. Defended the Confederate flag. Referred to a colleague as “colored.” Suggested that coeds carry firearms on campus to fend off sexual assaults… Why, she’s a perfect candidate for Ted Cruz’s Nevada Leadership team.
Representatives like Michele Fiore do not help anything with their ideological rhetoric. All this sort of talk does is whip up the crazies in the GOP base. And we know that, given that extra push, they can go postal. Robert Dear is only one example. In this case, Fiore is advocating murder. Hell, she’s admitting that she would commit murder herself. That is a dangerous message and one that we just do not need right now.
