Cop’s Plea: Please Stop Reporting ‘Suspicious Activity’ Every Time You See A Black Person (IMAGE)

The right wants you to believe that we are now living in a post-racial America where racism has been eradicated and none of our current police shootings have anything to do with the color of the victims’ skin. Those of us who live in the real world know that post-racial America is a fantasy land and here in the real world racism obviously still exists.

The question is: how bad is it? Well, a police officer recently posted a plea on Reddit that proves it’s still pretty fricken bad:

The poster, sf7, is a verified police officer so this isn’t just some random Reddit user trying to stir the pot.

Just in the last couple of years we have had a number of African-Americans killed solely because of the way they looked. Trayvon Martin was walking home with Skittles and an ice tea when he was murdered by George Zimmerman; his killer made a 911 call shortly before the shooting and claimed that Trayvon looked “suspicious.” Tamir Rice was just like any other 12-year-old boy playing in the park with his toy gun when white people called 911 to report a black child waving a toy gun around. A short while later Tamir was dead. John Crawford was in Wal-Mart, holding a BB gun that the store sold when someone called 911 and reported a black man carrying a gun in the store. Police arrived and shot him on sight, killing him.

These are just a couple of recent stories. I’m sure that if I spent 30 minutes searching I could find a whole lot more of dead black people who weren’t doing anything wrong but lost their lives anyway.

There are tons of other videos and articles about African-Americans sitting in the mall or walking down the street and being stopped by police because someone thought they looked suspicious.

These incidents are a product of more than 200 years of the African-American community being vilified by white America. Even now, in 2015, more than fifty years after the Civil Rights movement the media portrays this community as a bunch of lawless thugs who want to loot and cause mayhem. Racism is so deeply ingrained in our society that it’s almost business as usual when an unarmed black person is shot.

Unfortunately for the police officer who posted that plea, he will still continue to get those phone calls, because a huge  number of Americans will not admit that we have a serious problem with racism. They think that if they ignore the problem and pretend it doesn’t exist, it’ll go away. Until the media stops calling young black men “thugs” and fear mongering, cops will still have to waste their time on men suspiciously jump starting their vehicles in the morning.
