Richard Painter is a lifelong Republican. He also served as the ethics lawyer in George W. Bush’s White House. This election cycle, though, he was on the side of Hillary Clinton, because he saw how dangerous, corrupt, and compromised Donald Trump is. Now that more and more revelations regarding the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia are coming out, Painter is going all in to try and save our democracy from Trump and his Kremlin-infected monsters.
The latest on Painter’s hit list? Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Wednesday night, it became clear that Sessions had at least two conversations with the Russian Ambassador during the campaign, and then lied about it under oath during his confirmation hearings. Painter took to Twitter and said that what Sessions did is a good way to go to jail.

Painter followed that tweet up, wondering what Sessions’ Russia positions are now:
I spent two hours with the Congressional Black Caucus today discussing Russian attacks on the US. Does AG Sessions have anything to say?

Sessions’s silence is certainly deafening here, as is that of his fellow Republicans. It’s time for an independent investigation, and perhaps even criminal charges. At the very least, Sessions needs to resign. He is clearly far too compromised to serve as Attorney General, and perhaps should even be in jail, just as Richard Painter alluded to.
