There is something uniquely satisfying in watching Rudy Giuliani, a man with so little dignity that he’s willing to defend Trump’s sexual assault brags on national television, get his comeuppance. For that, we owe Meet The Press‘s Chuck Todd a huge debt of gratitude.
On Sunday morning, following the sudden cancellation of RNC head Reince Priebus and the inability to get literally anyone else, Todd had the ever-eager Giuliani on to discuss Trump’s miserable week. It did not go well.
While attempting to shift the focus from Trump’s disgusting comments to Hillary Clinton’s speeches (lol!), Giuliani made the fatal flaw of walking right into a carefully laid trap. Thankfully, Todd seized the moment… and Giuliani was left looking dazed and confused. It was the beautiful moment of the Trump campaign’s absurd hypocrisy laid completely bare.

Giuliani was explaining how Clinton is being two-faced by telling Wall Street one thing in private and the American people another in public. For him, this proved that she is really in bed with Wall Street. Todd responded by asking Giuliani ever stopped to consider whether Trump should be held responsible for the comments he’s made in private. Say, and we’re just spitballing here, something about thinking it’s okay to grope a woman because you are a celebrity?
“If you believe that Hillary Clinton says one thing in private — and that means what she really is is what she is in private — should we assume what Donald Trump did in that Access Hollywood bus is what Donald Trump is like in private?”
Giuliani’s face is the sort of stunned disbelief that must happen just before a person realizes they are about to be hit by an 18-wheeler. Just sheer incomprehension.
It will all be over soon, Rudy.
