Holy hell, it really happened! Trey Gowdy, the lead Republican on what was the never-ending Benghazi witch hunt just completely ended that entire fiasco with what he said on Fox News in the video below. Yes, you did read that correctly. The very Congressman who has been conducting repeated hearings on Benghazi for nearly a year now, just made what could be a career-ending error and it was all captured live. Even worse, now it’s on the internet forever.
What was this terrible sin he committed? What did he do that could make him “former” Congressman Trey Gowdy? It’s simple; he told the truth. Not only did he tell the truth, but he admitted to a fact that completely kills every single reason Republicans had to care about Benghazi in the first place.
At first, Gowdy tried to lie about it. He was asked if a report saying that nothing could have been done that night to save the people in Benghazi was true. To that question, he answered “No,” which he knew was not true.
The host pressed him further on the issue, and that’s when Trey said this:
Whether or not they could have gotten there in time, I don’t think there is any issue with respect to that — they couldn’t.
And there it was… The day that Benghazi finally died.
There’s literally no coming back from this one for Trey. He admitted it: Benghazi is a total bust for Republicans.
