WATCH: Jon Stewart Chases Down A Senator, Makes Her Look 9/11 Responders In The Eye (VIDEO)

America’s loss of Jon Stewart from The Daily Show is the gain of first responders. Stewart’s highly publicized lobbying for health benefits for first responders took on a more personal role as Stewart actually took to the halls of Capitol Hill to chase down Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE), forcing her to look a pair of heroes in the eye and shake their hands.

It was quite the powerful moment, as Stewart introduced the men, one in a wheelchair, as heroes, telling her that she too could be a hero by voting for a bill that would extend benefits for 9/11 responders who have fallen ill due to their exposure to the deadly toxins in the air from the burning wreckage of the Twin Towers.

Stewart has made it clear that he’s not going to sit on the sidelines and do nothing when he can use his powerful voice and substantial influence to effect real change.

I would have been impressed if she invited him to visit her office or have a one on one meeting with him and others with his disability. Otherwise, I definitely agree with you!

If she’s a Republican, you can bet your life on it.

The AMbush interveiw that matters Not what that POS Bill O’Reilly and his Minions pull off. Good work Jon

I thought they voted down that extension?

  • Eric Hoffman

Those Republican senators can give a sheeeeeeyat. They voted it down because it was “too expensive.” Maybe if they attached a rider giving everybody who makes $250,000 or more a year another huge tax break, or shutting down Planned Parenthood or some such other nonsense, then the bill might have a chance of passing.

Jon, You fill my heart with love and I so need it. Thank you for being who you are and being fearless.
