The lone voice of reason at Fox News, Shep Smith, made the network almost look credible today with his strongly worded statement on why we cannot afford to give in to isolationism and hatred in America.
Today we mourn, but we cannot allow ourselves to become like those who want to destroy us. We cannot resort to the tactics of the barbarians. We must fight for what we believe in and who we are. Guard our freedoms faithfully for the generations to follow, and we must not let the rhetoric of potential and political extremists among us lead us to self-destruction.
Shep, echoing the same sentiments shared by President Obama recently, is right on the money. ISIS and radical terrorists want to lead us into another “Iraq”, because they know how badly it went for us the first time. It won’t be any better the second.
It sort of is unbelievable that Fox keeps Shep around, due to the fact he isn’t excited with hatred every day. It has to make those chance encounters at the water cooler with Hannity really really awkward. Shep is 100% correct. ISIS doesn’t want us helping refugees. They want America and the rest of the western nations to look like horrible foreign invaders and nothing would help them more in this, than if we turned away the very people that are at risk for slaughter by them. Republicans really are essentially aiding the enemy by playing right into ISIS’s hands on this one. It’s a bit ironic that the party most in favor of carpet bombing the entire middle east is their biggest unwitting ally.
