Head GOP clown, Ted Cruz, got embarrassed on CNN when he was asked about the Syrian refugee crisis. He has been fear mongering and stoking right-wing hysteria over the idea of refugees being secret terrorists for months, and finally had his hypocrisy thrown back in his face in the interview.
Cruz was asked point blank what would have happened if his own father, who was a refugee fleeing Cuba from religious and political persecution, had been refused admittance in another country. Cruz immediately tried to reframe the question and dodge actually answering it.
See, that’s why it’s important to define what it is we’re fighting. If my father were part of a theocratic and political movement like radical Islamism that promotes murdering anyone who doesn’t share your extreme faith or forcibly converting them, then it would have made perfect sense.
Translated: Because my father is part of a theocratic and political movement like radical Christianity, that promotes murdering anyone who does not share their extreme faith or forcibly converting them, it’s okay.
Let’s remember all the religiously fueled hate mongers calling for the execution of our LGBT brothers and sisters. Let us also remember the religiously affiliated organizations like the KKK that killed innumerable people of color, or people not of their approved version of Christianity. Don’t forget abortion clinic bombers and people who murder the health care workers that staff them, because God told them to protect life.
Rafael Cruz, Ted’s father, is a refugee that came from Cuba 55 years ago. He is part of a radical Christian denomination, and he also believes his own son is some Christian prophet anointed by God, who is here to help bring the second coming of Jesus Christ and usher in Armageddon. But noooooo somehow this is all completely different.

Cruz ended by saying that Muslim refugees should be resettled, but they need to be resettled in the Middle East. While there are some nations there that are helping them, these nations are not as large as us, and do not have the same infrastructure and resources to help them like we do. Add in the fact that we quite literally created this entire problem, and it shows just how beneath contempt Republicans are on this issue.
