A Texas city councilwoman dissolved into giggles during an April council meeting after the mayor ran to the bathroom and left his microphone on.
As Georgetown Councilwoman Rachel Jonrowe was about to speak, Mayor Dale Ross took a bathroom break, but forgot to switch his microphone off before heading out to relieve himself. “If your life has not already been touched by antibiotic-resistant disease, it probably will be at some point,” Jonrowe began.
As the councilwoman highlighted members of her own family who have been affected by antibiotic-resistant diseases like MRSA when the sound of the mayor’s powerful pee stream blasted through the speakers.
Jonrowe, a real trooper, did her best to continue her speech, but quickly dissolved into laughter as the mayor’s adventure in urination became the new topic, so to speak. the councilwoman, between fits of giggles, continued to emphasize her point — but she completely lost it when Ross flushed.
Afterwards, the Mayor, certainly bewildered as to what was so funny, returned to his seat. However, Jonrowe was done. She had lost any ability to maintain her composure. “I’m going to stop talking now, and ask that you give this serious consideration and approve this resolution,” she said.
In the clip, no one addresses the elephant in the room, though one thing seems clear: Mayor Dale Ross doesn’t wash his hands after going to the bathroom.
Interestingly, the World Health Organization emphasizes proper hand hygiene as a measure in reducing transmission and infection by drug-resistant organisms — including Methicillin resistant Staphyloccous aureus, or MSRA.
Perhaps Jonrowe and the mayor need to have a talk about that.
