As part of Donald Trump’s Independence Day Meltdown, the Republican candidate decided to spend a portion of it throwing a tantrum about the fact that the President of the United States was using Air Force One.
Trump, who is currently so unpopular that he might flip several red states blue, was livid that President Obama was flying to North Carolina this week to hold a rally with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. On Twitter, he expressed outrage that they would be flying down on Air Force One.
Why is President Obama allowed to use Air Force One on the campaign trail with Crooked Hillary? She is flying with him tomorrow. Who pays?

Inane? Definitely. But his complaint is also incredibly ignorant, as well. Trump demanded to know “who pays” for the flight – and many of his followers seized on the loaded question to conclude that tax dollars were being spent to support Hillary Clinton.
In fact, if Trump had bothered to do any research into the question before he blasted it out he would have realized that the answer isn’t the taxpayers at all.
A statement from the White House:
As in other administrations, we follow all rules and regulations to ensure that the DNC or other relevant political committee pays what is required for the President to travel to political events.
Obama is using Air Force One because by definition any plane that flies him is referred to by that name, but his expenses are being paid for by the Democratic Party.
Perhaps Trump is just bitter that while the Democrats can afford to fly President Obama down to rallies, his own fundraising is so pathetic that only the truly desperate like Sarah Palin and Chris Christie bother to show up at his.
Sadly, Trump isn’t the first Republican to “suddenly” decide President Obama is the first president in history that shouldn’t be allowed to use Air Force One. In a repugnant move, Republicans in Congress recently tried to “defund” Obama’s travel budget.
Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) suggested that the budgets for White House operations, including for Air Force One, should be decreased. Other conservatives have mentioned censuring the president, impeaching him or suing the administration over its immigration actions.
“I’d rather defund Air Force One,” Huelskamp said. “Congress took a 19 percent cut on its budgets — we should do the same for the White House.
Overtly racist or just plain assholes? I’ll let you decide.
