This really is the kind of stuff you just can’t dream up, but alas that’s the world we live in. For the past week - President Trump has been trying to get interim Senator Luther Strange (R-AL) nominated as the Republican Senate candidate for Alabama’s upcoming Senate race to fill the spot vacated when Senator Jeff Sessions was confirmed as Trump’s pick for Attorney General. He praised Senator Strange mightily and even flew to Huntsville, Alabama for a rally to promote him over that of the polarizing former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore.
He had been tweeting often:
He made it clear how he felt. Go Big Luther! Alabama.com put it this way:
Moore, Alabama’s twice suspended Chief Justice, easily defeated Strange Tuesday night, despite last-minute personal appearances by Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Later reports claimed Trump was regretting backing Strange, saying the former Attorney General didn’t have a lot of charisma or energy on the campaign trail and the president was concerned about being associated with a losing candidate.
So - what does Trump do? He deletes the tweets and then praises the candidate he was rallying against on Twitter of course. Not that Twitter would let him forget his past week’s behaviors.
Steve Bannon of Breitbart.com, Trump’s recently resigning adviser publicly backed Roy Moore. This was his face after reading Trump’s loving tweet to Moore.
And there you go. And life will go on - Trump will continue to live and act like he never lost and there’s nothing to see here.
