Trump has displayed a particular tactic this elections season that seems to speak to a lot of Republicans — bullying. He’s launched into personal attacks against everyone he disagrees with, but his treatment of Jeb was particularly harsh. And now that he’s secured the nomination, he’s turning that tactic towards Clinton.
While speaking at a Friday night rally in Oregon, the Teflon Don took a swing at Hillary Clinton, turning the tactic he used during the Republican primary on her — namely, his tendency to be a bully:
She’s been the total enabler. She would go after these women and destroy their lives. She was an unbelievably nasty, mean enabler, and what she did to a lot of those women is disgraceful.
Trump made these comments while defending his popularity with women, which is a lost cause if I ever saw one. Leaving aside that Trump’s all-time high popularity with women was an impressive 31% in 2015 (and it’s been going downhill ever since), Trump isn’t that popular with the general electorate period:
Now, the usual caveats about polls apply — this is only true for the segment of the population polled. But it’s telling all the same.
Trump went on to tell the crowd that”nobody respects women more than me” and “nobody in this country, and maybe in the history of the country politically, was worse than Bill Clinton with women.”
Have you ever read what Hillary Clinton did to the women that Bill Clinton had affairs with? And they’re going after me with women?
Oh, I’m sure the right-wing knows about it. They invented half of it.
