Welp, it has been a whole two days since Donald Trump said the Second Amendment people should take care of Hillary Clinton and the billionaire is sticking his foot in his mouth again. On Wednesday, during a campaign stop in Florida, the Republican presidential nominee accused President Obama and Hillary Clinton of “founding ISIS.” And, as usual, Trump doubled down on his asinine statements on Thursday morning’s edition of CNBC’s Squawk Box, while also saying it doesn’t matter if he loses because he will still be rich.
He gets the most valuable player award. Him and Hillary, she gets it too. I gave her co-founder if you really looked at this speech. But he and Hillary get the most valuable player award having to do with Iraq, and having to do with the ISIS situation, or as he would call it, ISIL. He calls it ISIL because nobody else does and he probably wants to bother people by using another term, whether it’s more accurate or not.
This is a narrative that the Republican Party has been trying to push for years, but it is 100 percent false. The GOP claims that Obama is to blame because he stuck to Bush’s troop withdrawal timetable. What they fail to mention is that Obama did want to keep 10,000 troops in the country but the Iraqi Parliament said those troops would not have immunity from prosecution — that was the deal breaker. Furthermore, years of bad foreign policy in the Middle East and two wars during the Bush administration is one of the main reasons for the terror group’s creation. Although it is a lot more complicated than that, one thing is easy to understand: When foreigners invade your country, bomb your people, and kill your families (A LOT of civilians were killed) it is safe to say you are not going to like those people. It is an uncomfortable truth.
Also, Trump’s claims that only Obama calls the group “ISIL” is complete and utter bullshit. The term “ISIL” is a common and widely accepted nickname of the group, but the billionaire wants people to think that Obama saying “ISIL” means he is somehow aiding the Islamic State.
According to Politico, Trump was annoyed when he was told that claiming the president “founded” a terror organization that wants to kill Americans is inappropriate. The billionaire responded by saying it doesn’t matter if he loses the election because his lifestyle won’t change:
Is there something wrong with saying that? Are people complaining that I said he was the founder of ISIS?” Trump said. “Look, all I do is tell the truth. I’m a truth teller. All I do is tell the truth. If at the end of 90 days I fall in short because I’m somewhat politically incorrect even though I’m supposed to be the smart one and even though I’m supposed to have a lot of good ideas, it’s okay. I go back to a very good way of life.
And there it is. Trump claims that he loves this country but when push comes to shove the only thing he really loves is himself and his bank account. He did not say that if he loses the country will suffer, instead he said it doesn’t matter because he will be okay.
