Liberal Trolls hold a special place in my heart. Their title is capitalized in my work out of respect. They take the stupidity of the right to the front lines and they do it with a style and flair that is unmatched, even by some of the best op-ed writers in the country.
Liberal Trolls aren’t your run-of-the-mill annoying blowhards the way conservative trolls are.
Their mission isn’t to pass on ridiculous memes that make no sense or to remind people that four people died in Benghazi.
Their mission is to bring truth, logic and reason to the conservatives of the internet long after most of us have given up. Liberal Trolls do what they do because they believe in truth. They champion logic. They are truly heroes for their dedication and they deserve our respect.
This isn’t my first time writing about the outstanding trollsmanship of a guy who calls himself “The Voice of Reason,” and I’m sure it won’t be the last. He takes his righteous trolling right to the source, attacking Ted Cruz himself. Upon seeing that Cruz was pleased with the release of the 5 Americans held in Iran, TVOR just had to remind him about the reality of the situation:
While he was still campaigning for the Democratic nomination then-Senator Obama was asked if he would be “willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries”
Obama responded, saying:
I would, and the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them – which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration – is ridiculous.
Obama faced long odds as well as criticism from idiots like George Bush, Dick Cheney and John McCain, the men who brought us what George Will rightly called “the worst foreign policy blunder in U.S. history, the invasion of Iraq.”
Believing that diplomacy was the right course, once he was sworn in as President Obama began reaching out to the Iranian people directly on the Persian New Year’s Day – Nowruz, a word that literally translates into English as ‘new day’ – with a message of peace. Obama played the long game and brought together an international coalition that included China and Russia which brought Iran to the negotiating table and resulted in us getting a deal praised by everyone except the warmongering Prime Minister of Israel, the warmongering, poop-flinging monkeys of the Republican Party and every other warmongering cunt on the planet.
When Bush put Iran on the ‘Axis of Evil’ Iran noticed that we invaded one of the countries that didn’t have nukes and left the North Koreans alone. The Iranians responded to Dubya’s bluster and belligerence by going from zero centrifuges to 5,000 moving down the road to a full-fledged nuclear weapons program. The deal Obama reached, all the while applying tough sanctions on the Iranians, reversed that course and ended Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
He didn’t threaten to carpet bomb them until the Iranian desert sand glowed in the dark, he told them he knew the Iranians have a rich history, that they have made ‘extraordinary contributions’ to human history and that despite the regime’s efforts to impose a kind of 21st Century ‘Iron Curtain’ on the internet the ‘Iranian people have a universal right to access information, and to freely assemble online.’
Instead of bluster Obama put unprecedented sanctions on their regime and spoke to the Iranian people from a position of strength; Instead of threatening war he spoke of our shared humanity; He openly criticized the Iranian President and the government of Iran while speaking to the Iranian people of their human rights. The result? The Iranians have dismantled their nuclear program, released US Navy sailors who unintentionally entered Iranian territorial waters in less than a day and without a shot fired in anger and just today released five Americans that had been held prisoner now that the sanctions which brought the Iranians to the negotiating table have been lifted.
You and every other idiot who has run for the GOP nod as long as I can remember have sung some variation of McCain’s ‘Bomb Iran’ and the result was a more dangerous world. Obama used carrots and sticks like Teddy Roosevelt said we ought to and tensions between the US and Iran are lower than they have been since the Iranian revolution back in 1979. Seems to me that instead of criticizing and insulting President Obama you morons should be taking notes.
Thus endeth the lesson.
And a fabulous lesson it was. If you’ve never visited The Voice of Reason, now is the time. Stop by his Facebook page and toss him a like and make sure to set your preferences to receive ALL of his posts. You won’t be sorry.
