Teabagging Tool Dr. Ben Carson Claims Abortion Is ‘The Number One Cause Of Death For Black People’ (VIDEO)

The right-wing generally doesn’t care about black people or black lives, and thus, are — at best — disinterested in black people. At worse, it’s an impenitent antipathy. There is, however, one topic where this disregard of #blacklivesmatter doesn’t carry over, and that’s abortion.

Old white men decided a long time ago — back in the 70s and 80s, in fact, so we’re talking ancient history here — that abortion was bad, mmkay? It kills babies, or something. And these old white men, some of whom go out of their way to defend slavery, were suddenly worried about black women getting abortions.

It was their paternalistic duty, then, as godly white men, to ensure that these former slaves didn’t have any choice in their lives. Thus, when we talk about police brutality or the impact of institutional racism and poverty on a person’s health, #blacklivesdontmatter, but when we talk about abortion, the case flips, and #blacklivestotallymatter.

Fortunately for these old white men, there exist concerned black men to hide behind. Among those “concerned” black men is Teabagger favorite Dr. Ben Carson, the Token African-American candidate, who retread the lie perpetuated by these old white men who defend slavery that abortion is the leading cause of death among black people on Fox News Thursday.

The “no sense” zone

While making a campaign stop Thursday night on the “O’Reilly Factor,” Carson commented that abortion was the leading cause of death among black people.

Carson also told guest host Eric Bolling that he stood by the comments he made earlier in the week on Fox’s “Your World,” when he said that Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger “believes in eugenics” and “was not particularity enamored with black people.”

What a coincidence: neither is the right-wing.

He echoed similar sentiments when he told Bolling, “it is quite true that the majority or plurality of their clinics are in minority neighborhoods.”

It’s actually “quite true” that the majority of their clinics are in neighborhoods where more than half the residents are white, but let’s not let the truth get in the way of a juicy lie and an ignoratio elechi.

Bolling, who doesn’t know the definition of Devil’s advocate, threw a large number of statistics at Carson related to abortions:

That 30 percent of abortions occur among black women, whereas their population number is 13 percent, so it’s almost triple the number of abortions rate for African Americans as whites.

This prompted Carson to wax semi-intellectual:

It brings up a very important issue and that is do those black lives matter. The number one cause of death for black people is abortion. I wonder if maybe some people might at some point might become concerned about that and ask why is that happening and what can be done to alleviate that situation. I think that’s really the important question.

It’s hard not to feel sorry for Carson. He’s running for head of a party that has a bunch of ignorant white people who have no idea why he’s there, but think they can use him as a shield against well-earned accusations of racism.

The problems, in no particular order, are: poverty, police brutality, the war on drugs. I refuse to believe anyone who claims to worry about black people without constructively addressing those three problems, first.
