Republicans have, since President Obama was inaugurated, blamed him for everything from the economy, job growth, government spending, golfing vacations and a fictitious weather machine that controls the climate. Those claims have been, in the past, been pretty easy to refute. However, in the fever pitch that has become the nation’s concern with the war on ISIS, Republican former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani dropped a proverbial bomb that we hope people will realize is a crock of sh*t.
In an interview on Faux News, Giuliani had the temerity to claim that ISIS was a creation of President Barack Obama. Manipulatively reminding viewers of the horrors of 9/11 he experienced while mayor, Giuliani stated:
“And the thought then, when President Bush acted so decisively and so quickly, that maybe something like this wouldn’t happen again,” Mr. Giuliani said. “And the reality is, this did not have to happen if our policies were different. If President Obama had listened to Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham and a whole group of other people and had set up a no-fly zone in Syria five years ago, if we had gone in and we had worked with the Syrian legitimate rebels, if we had not taken our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, [the Islamic State] never would have emerged.”
Obviously not a student of history, Giuliani then dropped the big one.
ISIS is filling a vacuum created by a vacuous foreign policy,” he said, referring to the terrorist group by its acronym. “ISIS is an Obama creation.
Giuliani claims that President Obama’s pulling troops out of Iraq prevented the military from collecting intelligence on Islamic State group.
Here are some real FACTs for you, Rudy.
ISIS ( Islamic State of Iraq & Syria) or ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and Levant) was founded in 1999 by Jordanian extremist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. They initially associated themselves with Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda, but Al-Qaeda disassociated themselves from ISIS in 2014. So even Al-Qaeda wants NOTHING to do with these nut jobs.
Let’s see … who was President in 1999? Was it Obama? Umm … no. Bill Clinton was President when ISIS was “founded.” However, President George Bush’s incursion into Iraq and the overthrow of Saddam Hussein with no clear after-plan in place had EVERYTHING to do with destabilizing the region and allowing ISIS to thrive and become the jihadist terrorist organization that they are today.
But yeah, it’s all happening now, so let’s blame it on President Obama.
Go read a history book, Rudy.
