Rachel Maddow got her hands on part of an explosive Newsweek story that blows the lid of the Trump Foundation’s “deep ties to global financiers, foreign politicians, and even criminals.”
Although the leaked report did say that so far “there is no evidence the Trump Organization has engaged in any illegal activities,” this is not good news for the GOP nominee’s campaign. The next paragraph of the report explains why this is such a bombshell:
“It also reveals a web of contractual entanglements that could not be just canceled. If Trump moves into the White House and his family continues to receive any benefit from the company, during or even after his presidency, almost every foreign policy decision he makes will raise serious conflicts of inserest and ethical quagmires.”
The report then goes on to ask what Trump will do if he wins the election in November: Would Trump cut ties with his organization? Which the Newsweek report describes as “a sprawling business empire that has spread a secretive financial web across the world.” Or would he “instead choose to be the most conflicted president in American history, one whose business interests will constantly jeopardize the security of the United States?”
The report has not yet been published but it is believed that it will grace the cover of Newsweek Wednesday morning.
