Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders hinted on Tuesday that if he received the party’s nomination he may end up forming the dream team that progressives have been crossing their fingers for by choosing Sen. Elizabeth Warren as his running mate.
Appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Sanders said that “it’s a little bit early to be speculating” on who would be his vice presidential pick, but then he voluntarily brought up Warren’s name without prompting.
Elizabeth Warren I think has been a real champion of standing up for working families, taking on Wall Street.
The comment came after those show’s hosts asked the Vermont senator if he would commit himself to choosing a woman as his running mate.
I’m not going to commit. You have to look at the best candidates you can,” the Vermont senator said.“I think the women of this country, the people of this country understand that it would be a great idea to have a woman as vice president. It’s something I would give serious thought to,” Sanders continued.“There are fantastic women who have been active in all kinds of fights who I think would make great vice presidential candidates.
