President Obama was very blunt Tuesday morning when asked by a reporter in Paris if a Republican could handle the job of president of the United States. He began his ever-so-eloquent answer by saying, “Let me first of all say I’m anticipating a Democrat succeeding me. I’m confident in the wisdom of the American people on that front.”
We all are, Mr. President. The thought of one of the buffoons we have to endure now on a daily basis winning the White House is far too cruel to bear.
The reason he gave is undoubtedly the simplest yet best explanation yet why a Republican would be a disaster as president:
American leadership involves not just playing to a narrow constituency back home — you are now in fact at the center of what happens around the world.
The president spoke specifically about climate change, noting that “99 percent” of world leaders don’t buy into the lie American oil companies are selling about climate change. They are far more realistic and won’t react well to someone denying science for profit.
