In the aftermath of the cowardly Paris terror attacks that killed 129 people, many are calling for another war. Lindsey Graham, John McCain, and even those who are incapable of naming one single ally that would go with us like Dr. Carson, have all called for another huge ground invasion. Our president is calling for the support of Paris, but also that we do it the right way because he isn’t an idiot.
The President’s correct and intelligent statements at the G20 summit in Antalya, Turkey this week gave us yet another opportunity to be 100 percent proud of our president:
We have the right strategy and we’re going to see it through. There will be an intensification of the strategy we have put forward, but the strategy we have put forward is the strategy that will ultimately work.
Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing, the same way, over and over again yet expecting different results. President Obama, who has taken out several key leaders of ISIS recently, expressed that quite well:
It is not just my view but the view of my closest military and civilian advisers that that [sending US ground troops against ISIL] would be a mistake. Because we would see a repetition of what we’ve seen before, which is if you do not have local populations that are committed to inclusive governance and who are pushing back against ideological extremes, that they resurface, unless we’re prepared to have a permanent occupation of these countries.
President Obama’s not so subtle slam on the Bush response to 9/11 and creation of ISIS, is clear here. The mental deficiency that it takes to believe that responding to yet another terrorist attack in the same way as the Bush administration did to 9/11, is astounding. There has been enough death and destruction caused in the name of “retribution” already.
Obama is just not stupid enough to make Bush’s mistakes, knowing that the evidence, history and facts all say that they will just make everything worse.
Thank you, President Obama, for being the voice of sanity once again and choosing not to inflame a situation that needs to be extinguished.
