Last night at the Golden Globe Awards, Meryl Streep was awarded the honorable Cecil B. DeMille award for Lifetime Achievement. Her speech, which she devoted mostly to ripping Donald Trump to shreds, was nothing short of legendary!
As you can expect, Trump couldn’t take it with an ounce of decency and predictably ran to Twitter to let us know how he felt about it, calling Ms. Streep an “overrated actor” and a “Hillary flunky.” And many of his supporters were quick to jump on board with their nastiness as well.
Ms. Streep, ever the class act, has yet to respond and I doubt that she will, but Barbra Streisand sure had a few choice words for Trump today when she spoke on the phone with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews.
“You can’t trust anything he says because if you get on his wrong side he will blast you negatively,” Streisand told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews.
“Why isn’t he sitting through briefings rather than tweeting this nonsense? And in a rating war with Arnold Schwarzenegger? I don’t know how we’re going to take four years of this.”
Ms. Streisand went on to explain that she completely agrees with Meryl Streep’s words at the Globes last night and said:
“I thought she said what she said beautifully and it’s easy enough to see the video online of Trump mocking and I completely agree with Meryl: it was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person.”
Barbara Streisand’s comments were spot on! I wonder if Trump will call her out as an “overrated flunky” like he did with Meryl Streep?
