The Right’s claims that Christian extremist Robert L. Dear is a “transgendered leftist activist” who attempted unsuccessfully to rob a bank, then fled into Planned Parenthood completely unraveled within seconds of the assertions being made, but that has not stopped the Right from trying. Unfortunately for conservatives, these incredibly false narratives — considered believable by only the absolute lowest hanging intellectual fruit in society — have taken yet another hit with the revelation that the terrorist was a huge fan of anti-abortion extremists, particularly the ones who blow shit up.
The shooter’s ex-wives describe Dear as a deeply religious “Christian” man who was extremely anti-abortion and basically a typical right-wing hypocrite. Ex-wife number two says that:
He claims to be a Christian and is extremely evangelistic, but does not follow the Bible in his actions. He says that as long as he believes he will be saved, he can do whatever he pleases. He is obsessed with the world coming to an end.
The murderer, who ranted about Obama and “no more baby parts” after he killed three and injured nine at the Colorado Springs, Colorado, Planned Parenthood facility, is also a gigantic fan of radical anti-choice extremists. One person to whom Dear spoke about religion frequently said that the 57-year-old terrorist praised people who attacked abortion providers, saying they were doing “God’s work.” The person, whom the New York Times did not identify, said that Dear described members of the anti-abortion terrorist group Army of God as “heroes.”
The Army of God certainly agrees with conservatives like Colorado Republican JoAnn Windholz, who feels that Planned Parenthood deserved the attack because the organization performs abortions. “Zealots” like Dear, she said through a post quoting Franklin Graham, are needed to “restore our beloved country to its former status.” The Army of God released a statement praising the attack:
Robert Lewis Dear aside, Planned Parenthood murders helpless preborn children. These murderous pigs at Planned Parenthood are babykillers and they reap what they sow. In this case, Planned Parenthood selling of aborted baby parts came back to bite them.
Anyone who supports abortion has the blood of babies on their hands.
The Army of God hosts a shrine to “prisoners of Christ” — men who are behind bars for killing or attempting to murder abortion providers.
“I think Planned Parenthood is an evil organization, so I didn’t lose any sleep when I heard about it,” AoG leader Elliot Spitz said in an interview after Dear’s attack. “They sell baby parts, and they reap what they sow, and now they’re complaining about it.”
“There are no innocent people in Planned Parenthood,” Spitz said. “They’re in there for a reason.” The anti-abortion extremist says he wrote a letter of support to Dear on Monday. I told him, I was reaching out to him, it appears that everybody is against him. I’m not against him,” he said.
At this point, conservatives would be completely stupid to claim Dear walked into Planned Parenthood with any intention besides attacking the evil “baby parts” sellers — so we can almost assuredly expect them to continue prattling on about “transgender bank robberies.”
Dear faces a minimum of life in prison for doing God’s work. Watch his initial court appearance, below:[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBsO34ejt-E&w=560&h=315]
